Bio Photo Native of St. Charles County, MO now living in Virginia's Northern Neck. I am an independent researcher / contractor in historical, genealogical and land title work.

In the course of my work, I sometimes find abandoned graveyards in obscure places and add this to findagrave.

I am not memorial collector or hoarder, and will gladly transfer management of non-related memorials I create upon request, with a brief explanation of your interest in the person.

There are pre 1910 Death certificates, I live in Kansas City, no where near Butler or Howard Counties...when you post a memorial, you can put in a photo request and hope there is a volunteer near that cemetery, it may take a while.

RE: Dandridge Clark
Yes I got your message, the second one. I had sent the message on find a grave. You know, sometimes it's hard to find things, but I rely on the census...It still really works my brain sometimes. I went to Totuskey Church, took photos of all graves there, because I got tired of running back and forth, and found a lot of the family farther down, but some are in a private graveyard. Just there are so many, takes a while to figure out who is who.
Good luck with your research...

you wrote - The will of John H. Clark (1876) names his son Dandridge Clark, among others. In 1883, some of these heirs, including Dandridge Clark and his wife Sarah Ann [Waterfield] sold their interest in the estate of John H. Clark to Randall Clark.
This means Dandridge Clark is a son of John H. Clark, and not Josiah/Joseph Clark as you have on findagrave, unless there were TWO Dandridge Clarks. Would like to get this straightened out for both Dan and Larry, who are both on this line.

1950 Census of Farnham Parish, Richmond County, Virginia,- Dandridge Clarke was age 9. Joseph Clark age 39, was listed as head of the household, his wife Sally Clarke age 27, with Elizabeth Clarke age 10, Dandridge Clarke age 9, Felitia Clarke age 7, Martha Clarke age 5, Catharine Clarke age 3, and Thomas Clarke age 0.

1860 Census of Stony Hill, Richmond County, Virginia - Dandridge Clark is age 18. Head of household is Joseph Clark, age 48, wife Nancy Clark age 37, Elizabeth Clark age 21, Dandridge Clark age 18, Felicia Clark age 15, Martha Clark age 13, Joseph W. Clark age 9, Thomas Clark age 10, Dolly Clark age 5, and Georgana Clark age 1.
1880 Census of Washington District, Richmond County, Virginia, Dandridge is age 40, married, and a farmer. Dandridge Clark age 40, head of household, with wife Sarah age 23, and John Clarke age 1.

Dandridge Clark served in the military in CO. D - 47 VIRGINIA INF - CSA
On May 10, 1930, C.C. Clark, the son of Dandridge Clark, submitted an Application for a Headstone to the War Department for the unmarked grave of Clark, Danridge Pvt. Company D, 47 Va. Inf, CSA. He had died Sept., 17, 1912 and was buried in the Totuskey Cemetery near Haynesville, Va. The application was approved by the War Department August 11, 1930 and the headstone was shipped to C.C. Clark December 13, 1930- to be picked up at Meter, Va. (James E. Rannels) I have the Application for headstone paper. You can find it on The C.C. Clark mentioned is Channing Conrad Clark, his son.

Dandridge Clark married Sarah Ann Waterfield born November 20, 1856, died January 23, 1915 Dandridge and Sarah married abt. 1877 . Sarah Ann Waterfield (1856-1915), was the daughter of John Thomas Waterfield and Rachel Ann Clarke. Rachel Ann Clarke was the daughter of John Henry Clarke (1807-1877) and Lucinda Jane Bryant.(1816-1881).So Rachel being the daughter of John Henry Clarke, was a heir to his estate, which is how Dandridge and Sarah had an interest in the Will of John Henry Clark.

This John Henry Clarke (Names are both Clark/Clarke) was born December 25, 1807 in Richmond Co., Va., and died January 4, 1877 in Richmond County, Virginia. He was the son of John Randall Clarke (1779-1815) and Nancy Davis (1780-1840). So, this is how Randall Clark was in the will. (and John Henry Clark was married two times, Lucinda was his second wife).

The Dandridge C. Clark below is son to Dandridge Clark above, b. 1841.

RE: Moses Smith Cemetery Location
Just an FYI
This "Byrd", who possibly did serve in the RevWar, is NOT the same "Byrd Smith" who married Rhoda Ingles.

Richard Mitchell #43013506
I don't know this Mitchell family. I'm sure someone else provided me with the information about his marriages and the names of children. I took it for granted that the information provided was correct. If the information is not correct concerning his marriage/s I will be happy to remove it. Let me know if I should remove it. Thanks.
