Hollingsworth-Lee Vera Hollingsworth was my 5th cousin, twice removed on the Lee side of my family. Luther's death date, as noted on his findagrave site was 29 Jun 1925. If you need a better photo for your DAR application, I can go back to the cemetery and take another one.
His parents are buried in the same cemetery. His grandmother was Susan Lee, daughter of Judge Needham Lee and Susan Bailey. Needham's father was Captain Thomas Lee, who served in the Rev War. He is DAR ancester #A068774 - many ladies have joined under him through his son Needham, so you can probably hook onto one of those applications.
I am also a member of DAR and I hope you are able to join! I can send you a listing of the lineage from Thomas lee to Luther Hollingsworth - just send me an email (email@example.com). I don't have the proofs that you need because that isn'tmy line - I descend from one of Thomas's brothers. But I might have enough clues for you to get started.
HOLLINGSWORTH Karen, Luther was my great uncle your Vera "I knew her" was my mothers first cousin, she would be my 2nd. cousin, Allen would be my 3rd. cousin, you my dear would be my 4th. cousin. Herman I see in my notes was from Chilton co. Al. I see you want to join the DAR, since we are from the Capt. Thomas Lee line of Tenn. that is enough to satisfy requirement for that. HOLLINGSWORTHS Hi Karen, you are right, I am that Bobby. Some years back I and Reed K. Merrill communicated, but I lost touch with him. Checking my memorials on Find A Grave should help in your search. Needham Wesley Hollingsworth was my great grand parent. Then his son Wesley Huel then my mother Bertha. Good to hear from you Bobby
RE: Hollingsworths and Gentrys Nice to hear from you! Although my Gentry family is my paternal line, and my Hollingsworth family is my maternal line. I am a descendant of Valentine Hollingsworth, and a descendant of Nicholas Gentry.
