I have spent my life from the age of 16 yrs to date, military related. I worked as a Contract Officer at Fort George G. Meade in Maryland for over twenty years. Since retiring and moving back to Kentucky (where I was born and raised), I resumed my family research, canning, quilting, gardening and volunteer work with saving animals.|
I am the proud Granny of three wonderful grandchildren and two outstanding children. My daughter became a nurse and works in the hospital in Elizabethtown, Ky. My son, is the crew Chief for the Presidents helicopter fleet and is stationed at Pax River Maryland Naval Base. He is retired Navy.
Since my return to Kentucky, I hosted the first Burkhead family reunion to be held in over twenty years. We have been getting together every year since.
The results of my research has been rewarding on many levels. I have been "dubed" the family historian and have been able to share documents with many other family members.
I like to try and keep as many memorials together in a father, mother and sibling line as I can. I find it helpful in doing so for fellow researchers.

I received your message with the question as to the name of her spouse. She is in my line on my Mayes side, and I have very little information on her other than what is at her memorial. I do have two husbands listed, but do not know in which order she married them nor do I know their first names. One last name is Burkhead, the other is Doan. I have a child listed for each marriage but not much information on them either. One child is Carl E. Burkhead. I don't know if this is the Carl E. Burkhead you spoke of or his namesake. The other child is Stanley L. Doan. I know this is probably not much help to you, but it is all I have.
If you can determine that she is, indeed the wife of your Uncle Ed, I will be glad to add information to her memorial for you. Just send it the same way you sent your question about her and I can copy and paste it into the bio section. You have the capability to add pictures yourself but I will give you an email address to send them to should you want me to do that instead, just let me know okay? I think there is still a limit as to how many pictures can be added without having to sponsor a memorial but don't remember offhand how many pictures that is. Three or five, I believe.

In reference to your request for possible transfer of management, you failed to give your exact relationship to Alexander B. Kirby. Merely being a direct descendant does not qualify according to Find A Grave's rules. I also usually add siblings to a memorial only if they have a memorial and can be linked.
|Christie Scott-Swentko||Katie B. Durbin's Memorial|
I just transferred over Katie B. Durbin's Memorial to you. I was very happy to do that for you. I have a lot of relatives at this cemetery and while I was in town took pictures of all the headstones to help out anyone else that has relatives there and don't mind transferring it over to the rightful family members. I'm just happy I could do that for you.

So good to hear from you! Do you have a tree on ancestry.com? If so, I'd love to look at it. The Annie B. I mentioned, was the first wife of my great grandfather, Claiborne Barksdale, who came to Ark. From VA. following the Civil War. Annie (from Ark) died in childbirth, along with the baby, not too long after their marriage. Her grave is in Benton, Arkansas. I assume the baby was buried with her. I would love to hear from you, how you are related. I have an item that belonged to her, and would love to pass it on to someone of her family.

Thank you. Are you a descendant of Mary M. Wical Gerard? I grew up in Southern West Virginia, and currently living in the City of Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. Some of lineage of Philip Wikle and Anna Catherine Michael, had moved to Bureau County, Illinois. I want to visit Bureau County, and also DePue Villiage, sometime this year.

|Mary Rose||RE: Mona (Johnson) Borders & Philip Borders|
I am related to G-Aunt Mona, Philip, and G-Uncle Earl through our Johnson bloodline. My mother and Philip were first cousins. Philip through his mother, Mona (Johnson) Borders and my mother through her father, Ray Johnson.
You are related to the Borders, who married into our Johnson line. Or, the other way around! I am related to the Johnsons, who married into your Borders line.
I hope you will post any of your Borders/Johnson pictures to the appropriate memorials. Love to see them!
Thanks for your interest!

I want to answer your requests for transfer of the memorials for Aunt Mona and her son, Philip to you. I appreciate your close relationships with them while they lived. I met Aunt Mona and Philip in the early 1980's. My profile states I am always happy to transfer memorials that are not those of my relatives.
You can always add pictures to their memorials. And just contact me if you have corrections or have additional information you want me to place in their bio sections. I promise you I will add your information!
I did not know Uncle Earl Johnson, therefore, was willing to transfer his memorial to you.
Kind regards, Mary Rose
