Joseph McCleskey Headstone etc
WOW! Sherry! So glad to hear from you. God BLESS You for going to the old Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
I longed for someone to visit that Cemetery and photo the headstones.
I live a round trip of 1600+ miles from there, and have wanted to return for years. My last time there was in 2002, and I knew nothing about findagrave, so I only photographed the Lovelace Redwine headstone. (Been kicking myself ever since)
I will check my notes regarding the headstone you referenced and get back to you soon.
Does the headstone of Lovelace Redwine, born 1826; died 1856; still stand?

Thank-you! again and again,

RE: Houston family photos
Thank you for the transcription of Margaret Potts' stone. We did the transcription at the bottom of Esther Houston's stone, but you might like to verify (it's a good photo, but our eyes have a little difficulty):

Beyond The Reign Of Death
There Is A Blessed Clime
Where Life Is Not A Breath"

Walston Cemetery
Sherry, thanks so much for the Whitten photos in Walston. I am working on my Whitten branch of my family tree and continue to find cousins buried in Walston. Walston must be an interesting cemetery. Thanks again for your good work. I may have additonal requests from Walston.

Yes, I think they are one and the same. Dates on stones don't always match up to death certificates. In some cases the stone is place quite awhile after the death and peoples memories aren't always correct.

Goodloe Graves
I was in Tuscumbia July 4th weekend. I visited the old Oakwood cemetery and found Davis Short Goodloe's tomb but was not able to find my Great Great grandfather Albert Gallatin Goodloe. He moved to Texas in 1855 for health reasons, but came back and died in the Barton home in Tuscumbia. I am to believe he is buried in the Barton cemetery. I met Goodloe Pride (connected with Goodloes, Lane and Pride families) at the Florence-Lauderdale Library. He said he may be in the Lane cemetery. I would like to find where he is buried. My personal e-mail address is and his is He goes by the nickname Bud and his cell phone is (256) 766-6585. Let me hear from you.
