I have been interested in genealogy since I was eight...long before I knew the word...My Mother's family is deeply rooted in Person County, NC...and my Father's in Halifax/Mecklenburg Counties, that I am retired, I can spend all the time I want searching's sort of like treasure hunting...

I saw the card on ancestry dot com for ordering the gravestone for William A Ford....It was a J Cox who signed for the military headstone for William A Ford...and I think that may have been one of the Cox men who married either Fannie Ford Cox or Cornelia.

I think it is possible that Sarah 126334272 may have previously married William A Ford who was born abt 1835 Halifax Co VA and died 1888, also buried Shady Grove. His pension application show his wife was Sarah "Sally". William A Ford was the son of Jarrel David Ford and Keziah Witt.

Our roots
Martha, I am willing to bet our families crossed paths over the years. My roots cover from the Oak Level/ News Ferry area all across Halifax County to Clarksville in Mecklenburg County and the Northern Person County area. David

Hello, Martha!

It was probably over 10 years ago when I photographed & surveyed Fork Baptist Church Cemetery...but I don't think that Charles has a tombstone. I say that because my source for his burial place was his Grandson, Allen Lee Moorefield, Sr. instead of Cemetery Survey...which is what it would say if I saw it (the tombstone) and recorded it. Unfortunately, Allen has since passed he can not provide you with further information.

If your Grandfather Bill recalled that he (Joseph) was buried at a church with the name Fork in it...and he was buried beside Charles...he most likely would be buried at Fork Baptist, which is where Charles is supposed to be. I do seem to recall that there was an area of the cemetery close to the trees that had only field stones and stones that only had initials on them. If I find my copy of my survey, I will let you know.

Signora is buried in Clover, and Fork Baptist is located in Scottsburg. Both are in Halifax County. They are not that far apart...but I don't know the exact miles. I know that both my Moorefield's & Wilmouth's lived in both areas of the County.

Regarding the Family Bible that you you by chance have any photocopies or scans or photographs of it? If so, would you consider sharing??!! :-)

I'll be glad to try to answer all of your questions...feel free to e-mail me

I look forward to hearing from you!

Best Regards,
Laurie Goodman Lenz

Martha, I request photos of all the "cousins" hoping whoever goes and takes that photo will find some more cousins buried nearby that might not be listed on this site. I bet I've requested 1000s and have been found quite a few "new kinfolks" this way. Love that the funeral home offered to help you locate graves.
