After losing my Mother in 2011, I have embarked on the journey to create my family tree, and search for my ancestors. I want to pass this down to my son. I'm also working on my husbands, and my son's, on both my side and his fathers (my ex husband). It's quite a task since I have a large family. I'm enjoying it however and I have found people who are willing and eager to share photos & any information they have. I am working on, DeArmond, Collier, Wood, Walls, Lear....to name a few from my side of the family & mostly all from Muhlenberg County, KY. I'm also working on my son's Willamson side, mostly from southern IL, my Husbands, From Canada, France & Germany. as far as I know this site doesn't cover Germany & France. Schottgen, Guillmette & Duguay are the families I'm searching for. I wonder how many years it will take. lol :) I find myself at the computer day and night lately delving into all this new found knowledge. :) Aside from that, I enjoy my family, quilting, gardening & reading. I love many types of music, quotes, bible passages, taking photos, old barns, outhouses, antiques, anything old & interesting. Being a DeArmond, I love the DeArmond guitars (I gave mine to my son who has played guitar since he was 4 years old).....DeArmond invented the pick up & they are highly sought after. Anything DeArmond, I love & am interested in. I understand their is even a book about us but I have not found it yet. I own one of the two Muhlenberg County history books & I am in search of the other one. Sigh....I guess that's about it for now. Signed, a regular gal. :)|

Your info on this Elizabeth is confusing me. While James Dearmond/DeArmond (1771-1831) & Susan (Shaden) (1786-1896) did have a daughter named Elizabeth, her full name was Elizabeth Thompson (DeArmond), Born 08.19.1806, Roane Co., TN. Death was 05.02.1850, East Feliciana Parish, LA & she married her second cousin, Thomas Flenniken Dearmond/D'Armond (1795-1865)...she was the second of his three marriages. The Elizabeth (Dearmond) who married William F.M Rice (1814-1911)was the daughter of William Dearmond (1775/80-1857) & Unknown Mother. This Elizabeth was born in 1828, Bradley Co., TN. Making her age given correct. So, can you help me understand who is who?1? Maybe I have it all wrong.........

Hi Lori, My grandfather x5 was David Flenniken Dearmond of Tennessee. I just wanted you to know that the book your are talking about is called
Dearmond Families of America by Roscoe Carlisle D'Armand. I have the first edition of that book. It was my grandmother's (Grace Dearmond).

You posted a picture of Hughes Cemetery, Muhlenberg Co, KY.
Can you tell me where this cemetery is? I'm trying to locate it on a map.

I do believe that the cemetery is in Muhlenberg County. You turn off highway 431 S on to Iron Mountain road. A short distance out that road you turn left on Fagg Road. The cemetery is not very far out Fagg road but is way off the road on a hill behind a house. The farm is known as the Goodie Fagg farm. You can see a map on the DeArmond (Fagg Road) cemetery page. Just click on Map.

I am happy to transfer the memorials to you since you are related to them.
I have only been to that cemetery one time back in 2011 when I was searching for Sarah Eddie Mallory DeArmond. She was the sister of my grandfather(Alex Mallory)who married Lewis DeArmond. I remember looking for the cemetery and it was way up behind someone's house. A lady was out in the yard so we asked if we could go up there and she was so nice and even walked up there with us. We had to go through their cow pasture. The cemetery was well maintained.
I live in Georgetown, KY so sorry I won't be able to take the photos you requested.

I think i have solved the different grave stone photos. Their is 2 Dearmond grave yards. After looking over google earth and running it through the search engine, i discoverd what is marked on another map as a Dearmond grave yard behind kenneths house, i never been to it and for got it was their. The other Dearmond grave yard the 1 i found was back more to the end of Fagg Road. It had a small white sign stuck in the ground with a arrow pointing up the hill saying Dearmond Grave Yard. And from my memory it had more Dearmonds then any name their.1 way the mix up could of happen is i had a old account so many years back i just signed up just to post that 1 grave yard and a few small others after discovering it, so i for got the pass word and could never log back on it. So later some one added in memorials and did not no better that it was not the Dearmond in Kenneth's back yard and later the photos. So that would mean the 1 i found is a whole other lost grave yard. Will have to fix that later and give the other another name, ill leave that up to you.You mentioned the name Ida Wood i have no current photos to look over any more but Ida Wood sticks out in my head, get back with you later on all of this.
After looking at some more newer photos of the Dearmond grave yard that some one else posted back 2011 that i never knew was their. I have realized that some one had done a reconstruction mow down make over their.Which once was forest appears to be a green lawn with fence off from a distance un less theirs another Dearmond? How ever i will still head up that way and see the difference, those 2 Dearmond grave photos our 2 of my favorite pictures so ill be glad that i took them.

I used to live out on Fagg Road back in 07 and 08 in a little old farm house. And it is a real pretty and wooded area and i have taken some of my best and favorite photos along that road it turned in to a old stone dirt wagon road that ended at the green river. Along the road was some old abandoned houses that i wondered might of belonged to some of the Dearmonds. The Dearmond grave yard sits on top of a steep high cone shaped hill and you can only get their by atv or foot. It was very over grown with forest and it was covered in fallen tree limbs and leaves vines, i spent a half day their clearing it out and sweeping the leaves off the grave stones and some i even had to put back in place before i took my photos. A lot of the tomb stones was unreadable and i lost all my pictures in a computer crash. Their was a man named kenneth Fagg that owned the land, but i am not sure if he still does. The last time i tried to visit the area their was a gate and no trespassing signs not allowing me access the rest of the road to the grave yard. May be i just might ride up that way some time and see if Kenneth is still around or who may own the land and if i can get permission ill go back to visit it and take some new photos. I cant promise anything and it may be a while, but it would give me a good excuse to re visit the area and may be take some new great photos along the way.
