Sounds like a great puzzle. No birth or death documents are online but are available from the county.

I enjoy helping others so it has been no bother. Please don't hesitate to submit any edits for this family or any other memorials I manage. I enjoy making each one more complete!!

It appears that a Douglas baby, apparently child of James (see funeral home record and cemetery record below) died July 13, 1898 aged 3 months , but the baby is listed as black. If the rest of your family, isn't (I see 'white' in the census and on Elizabeth's), might ask when ordering the death certificates (yes the hard way) and make sure it isn't an error. The dates and sure fit nicely.

Cemetery record:

Funeral home record:

I realize the FH record says the deceased was James, but I have found it not uncommon for infants to be listed by the father's name only.

The full site where I found the births is:

I did not find a death record for this baby here. Some records are not complete, or she may have died while visiting out of the county. In 1900, Elizath had given birth to 8 with 5 still living (Eva was still living in the census).

Your wish is my command, Sir! See the requested proof below. Most of our births are recorded in two books, including your twins. I have never asked why, but one may be county and the other city for those within the limits, but that is a guess. I didn't follow up on the other children, so if you find something not on their memorials, go ahead and send edits. Happy Hunting!

Hi Brian. I made the additions to Eva's memorial. You do realize that your dad and Eva were born in Indiana, not Canada, right? Any idea where father James is buried?

Ohh you're a sweetheart!! I have been sick all my life the oldest of 6 children. Tho I have always managed to take care of myself, found a fantastic husband of now 37 years, take care of my parents who live next door and most of the "wildlife" in my neighborhood. I got into Genealogy because of my Mother and my closeness with all my Aunts,Uncles,Greats and beyond. has become more of a "heroin addiction" I volunteer here on Findagrave to take pictures but try to go that extra mile for family when I can. I don't know a time that I did NOT come home with at least 2 300 pictures from a cemetery!!! My poor husband works 6 days a week making burial vault of all things (33 years) and I usually bribe him with Sunday breakfast somewhere so he will take me out to the cemetery to find graves. He's pretty good!! We make a good team! I love it when someone finds one of my memorials and cares about their ancestors. Take care and God Bless!
