Rebecca Abernathy's grave
What a pleasant surprise! This must have taken some effort! I was planning a road trip to the area, but was daunted by the fact that it was out of the way, no matter which route I took. Thank you for your tenacity.
Looking for any graves in Polk County, FL? I used to be a child welfare social worker, so I know a lot of the back roads...

RE: Thomas H. Burgess
According to Civil War records Thomas Burgess was killed at Petersburg, Virginia (Petersburg National Battlefield).

According to National Battlefield info, Poplar Grove National Cemetery is at the site of this battle and where the soldiers killed in action are buried.

I want to thank you for your efforts in trying to help find his grave. I will list him as one of the unknown soldiers buried at this cemetery.

Again, thank you for your efforts.

RE: Thomas Tainter
Yes, I think this is him. He was re-interred in 1865 from his original grave. They did the best they could recording names from pieces of wood boards, fence posts or anything they could find to mark the grave. I have found many mispelled names because they were either hard to read or they didn't know the exact spelling of their names. Thanks So much!
