RE: John Henry Powers
Bonnie,
I am new to this so I have no clue how to manage anything on Find a Grave! I do have a lead where you may find the other Powers burial spots and I do think we are related! My great grandmother had wanted to be buried in Wheeling, MO Cemetery with other Powers, but one of my great uncles her son insisted elsewhere (Chillicothe)after her death. It was quite the family argument! When I was older I was curious about the other Powers so I made a trip to Wheeling and there were Powers buried there! The cemetery is easy to find right off Hwy 36 and there is also a large map billboard style in the cemetery to find graves....Very helpful! Do you know of the men you are looking for if they had nicknames? I know many stories from my grandfather and the people all had nicknames. A cousin "Cockle-burr" ended up marrying in France during WWII and has family there.Maybe he is one of the men you are looking for? Also I think it would be easier if there was a way to private message and I would give you my e-mail to help in your search and I have questions also. Thank You for your help and interesting story about Jim Powers I have heard he was something!!

John Henry Powers
Hi,
I am the great great grand daughter of John Henry Powers. I am familiar with the cemetery that has been posted on your profile a year ago 2014. It is considered The Hicks Family Cemetery and in the 1980's-90's there was once a sign with the Hick's name on it. It is long gone as well as the caretakers of the cemetery mostly the McCracken family took care of it. I have many stories from my grandfather and his cousins about this land that belonged to the Powers.' The Powers family is also buried in the cemetery along with their Hick's cousins also a few non-family members. I also know as long as their are Powers descendants we have the right to access Garber's farm to visit the cemetery. Please let me know how to contact the person on your post that also shares John Henry Powers as a family member I think I have more information than John at the Carroll County Library. I researched there 20 years ago and found much more through relatives and other documents the library does not have. Thank You for your help!

Congrats on finding her father's obit. I added the link.

You've done a lot of work for these memorials. If you'd like me to transfer management of any of them to you, let me know.

RE: Elizabeth Brumbaugh Brown photo
I'm sure I will be at some point. The extended family branched from the PA and MD area into Ohio, Ill., MO, TX, CA, Indiana, The Carolinas, and on and on.

I'll keep your message so I can contact you if someone else comes up in your area.

Have a Merry Christmas, and thanks again for your help.

Hicks Cemetery
Hi Bonnie again,
Yes, they are my ancestors. Henry was my 3 great grandfather and his wife Elizabeth. The reason I had them all in the same cemetery. And a few years back someone contacted me and said they need to be in the powers cemetery. Will I seemed to have put Elizabeth there and not the rest of them. But I put Elizabeth back in the Hicks cemetery with Henry and some of there kids. I believe that is right. Henry If I remember right owned the property that the cemetery was on. And I believe that Elizabeth is also buried in the cemetery with Henry. No need to go back. If some day your there maybe you could take a photo. Thank you so much for the fast response. And Thank You for caring also. I just want them in the right place.
Again Thank you,

Powers/Hicks Cemetery
Bonnie, I meant to ask you. when you took the photo. Can you tell me the name of the cemetery? Is it Powers/Hicks- Powers- or Hicks Cemetery. I want to make sure I have them in the right place. And is Elizabeth Landers Hicks buried next to him..
Thank you so much for your help..
