|P. Meado||RE: Connolly's in County Galway Ireland|
Maybe the spelling is the reason I am having a hard time finding anything about them in Ireland.
The spelling of it on the U.S. Census's is different on every census. My 3rd Grt. Grandfather Michael Connolly's tombstone has Connolley, Find A Grave memorial 68466517. His brother Martin Connolly has it as Connolly, Find A Grave memorial 86076142.
I do believe the birth years on the tombstones are incorrect. From most of the census's I think Michael was born around 1835. Martin's birth year on the census's was more consistant around 1830 to 1832.
Martin immigrated to the U.S. around 1850.
Michael probably came around the same time, but I have no proof for sure. Michael got his naturalization papers on Oct. 28, 1868. Both were in the U.S. 1860 Census. The brothers settled in Morgan County, Illinois. They had farms close to each other.
Their mother was Mary Connolly Find A Grave Memorial# 90245145. Aged about 85 years on tombstone. In the 1880 Census she was listed as 90 years old. So born about 1790 to 1799.
Not sure who their father was or if they had other siblings.
We are probably related somehow.

Noticed you had some Connolly memorials in County Galway. Are there Connolly's in your family line?
My Connolly's came to the United States in the 1860's. and were from County Galway.

I think the edits are ok now for Michael and Marie. I can transfer these Memorials over to you if you would like.
I see you have just joined findagrave, the FORUMS are a great resource if you are doing family research, you can post there and the other members will do look-ups of obits, etc for you.
