Reverend Christian Diehl
This is one of my dream finds, though I don't necessarily need it to find out much.

This is the number for the ancestor whose grave I'm desperate to actually locate. Most likely he was disinterred from a now non-existent cemetery and moved to a section at a newer cemetery in Smicksburg. This is how we're related:

His number in findagrave: 98804636

Name: Rev Christian Diehl

If you live in the area, do you know anything about the cemetery he is listed in? His story and the idea that he left behind an unborn son, as well as another young son and young wife, having died of consumption at such a young age has always stuck in my mind.

I have everything I've been able to find out about him on his memorial page, and sadly this cemetery's requests have not be fulfilled in general.

Best Wishes! Maybe we'll see each other around on ancestry.

RE: Transferred the Bittners
Sorry, I wish I did know of her ):

Our family came out West over time after the death of Rev Christian Diehl during the 1800's. He died young and his wife remarried. His youngest son wasn't yet born when he died. Rev Christian and his wife had 2 children.

My Diehls lived primarily in Idaho, Washington, and then in Oregon. My great grandfather Diehl was an Indian Agent to several reservations, so they moved around off and on. My grandmother, his child, went to college in Idaho and then to a Christian college in Eugene, Oregon. There she met her husband and they later settled in Southern Oregon. They still loved going out to Idaho on the Snake River, etc. He was a river boat guide from a family of river boat guides, trackers, and other wilderness stuff.

You'll find a TON of Diehls in Pennsylvania, which is why it makes it has been and is a bit harder to research them. The document with the Bittner information (posted on those memorial pages) were a big find for me, among other things.

Are you on Ancestry?

That would be a better way to talk. My User ID is the same name.

Best Of Luck!

Transferred the Bittners

It's always great to see somebody related. I would love to trade you for any Diehls you might have. My grandmother was one and that part of the tree has taken a lot of work for me.

Consider being careful with any information on the pages I gave you. It, likewise, took a bit of work a while back to put all of it together and use those cemetery records to find out what seemed like the truth out there.

Best Wishes and Best of Luck!

Hi, Betty,
I have transferred Susan to your care. Sorry for the delay. I was attending my father after open heart surgery.

Enjoy updating the memorial. Warm Wishes, Sheri

Kemp Middlekauff Bell
Hi Betty,
I just transferred Kemp to you. He was my 3x cousin 3x removed, so happy to give his memorial to closer family.
His mother Mary Elizabeth Middlekauff was my 2nd cousin 4x removed. If you have any questions about her Middlekauff line, I'd be glad to share.

RE: Thank You for Transferring Annie C. Hess
Hello Betty,

Not sure what area you are from? The best recourse of old obituaries is the Washington County Library. I do know the library records are on line. You may find more assistance at the Hagerstown Historical Society in Hagerstown. For the Franklin county area, the Waynesboro Library.

Good luck,

RE: Thank You for Transferring Annie C. Hess
I enjoy making the transfers that our members may add their family information, and I do enjoy helping others.

You are most welcome,
