|Mountain Traveler||Mary Jane McCorkle Vance/Old Harmony Cemetery|
I was downtown Greeneville and stopped and read Mary's headstone. I have corrected her memorial page (# 25241420). You were right in that the dates were incorrect.

Yes, it does say McCorkle for sure, just not sure what it says after that.
Incidentally, this would NOT be a 1959 headstone marker. It is older than that and being in this particular cemetery I am sure it is not 1959.

I would definitely have to look at this marker in person. I maintain this memorial, but I was not the one who entered the info or the photo. It should not be hard to find the marker and it is right down in the center of town. I saved the photo to my computer and enhanced it, but cannot read the dates. What I can read is Mary Jane and then Daughter of John & Mary McCorkle. I cannot read Vance anywhere. Since I think you are right I am going to remove the reference to David Graham and put this marker on my list of things to check out. No telling when I'll get it done. I'll make a note as to what the info now reads so I can put it back if necessary.

You say her birth date is 28 jul 1985. Do you mean this is her DoD?

The correct method to request photos is go to each memorial and click the "Request A Photo" button on the right side of the memorial (below the photo section and above the flower section). Your request will be filed along with the others for that cemetery.

|Historian||photo of John Reed - thanks!|
Thank you SO much for the photo of John Reed's gravestone. I believe he was the captain of the gunboat "New York" at the battle of Valcour Island. My wife's ancestor served on the "New York" and was wounded when a cannon exploded. I really appreciate your VERY fast response and the very clear photo.
