Bio and Links
Bio Photo To me, this site is about FAMILY, which is the most important thing any of us can be a part of in this life. I am working on documenting my ancestry for the benefit of my children so they can know and learn about their family.

Unfortunately, I am not currently able to be a contributor in helping to document the gravesites of others. That is something I hope to change in the future. When I do, I will gladly do so because this is important work.

I extend my sincere and heartfelt gratitude to ALL who have contributed to this site. Every time I look at the profiles of the contributors here, I am awestruck at the volume and immensity of work that has already been done. It is a blessing to many, of which I am one. THANK YOU!!!

Very sorry for your loss. Glad to transfer to you! I thank you for your kind words- I do so enjoy helping people out. Got a little behind due to holidays or I would have transferred him to you sooner. Hope to hear from you again someday.

Paul,

Welcome to FindAGrave and Happy New Year. I'm not immediately recognizing it and haven't been in the area for a while. But, I'm willing to help. It seems that Bell cemetery might be the one you're referring to in Duval. Do you have photos and such you're going from or have you been there, to know it's size and distance from Yawkey? Do you know of anyone known to be buried there? Perhaps a good source, if you haven't tried this already, will be Koontz funeral home in Hamlin (304-824-3111) and Curry Funeral in Alum Creek (304 756 3111, curryfuneralhome@msn.com).

I am going to transfer her to you, but who ever has Byron listed did the family links. You will need to get in touch with them to correct the link.
Thanks Robert

Nannie Sauls
Thanks Paul for the information about the Sauls family and life on Peach Tree.
I am kin to the Jarrell's that owned that store that burned. There is a cemetery near the site of the store. Its on the hill on the right at that fork. I entered all the graves at the cemetery. I was looking for civil war soldiers that were in the 7th WV Cavalry. I had an ancestor that was in that unit. That cemetery is called "Pineknob". I do know where a Clay cemetery is located at Dameron. I was there in the late summer. I was looking for a relative but he was not in there. I was there once and not sure if all interments were entered. I saw a large copperhead snake and thought it be best to stop until spring. Some of the places I go, if I were to get bitten, I'd die before I could get back to my car and drive to the hospital.
I found a cemetery in the Drews Creek Hollow called the Vealey cemetery. You might be interested in that if you are kin to Vealeys. I need to enter the memorials that I took pics of when I was there. I took pics on my digital camera but got busy and didn't get them all entered. I need to get that done soon.
Thanks for all you don in Findagrave.

RE: Re: Nannie Sauls
Paul,

I transferred Nannie Sauls memorial to you. I was not able to find her husband's marker back in April when I discovered that cemetery, but I really didn't look very hard. It was late April and snakes were out and the weeds were getting high. She is interred in the Dickens Cemetery in Peach Tree located near Naoma, WV. That cemetery is in the worst shape I have ever seen! Weeds were very high and most of the markers are difficult or impossible to read. There are no caretakers for that cemetery and its very sad. It looks as if no one even visits it with no flowers left on the graves. I was looking for an great uncle that was buried in the cemetery. A lot of the markers are also off their foundation, overturned, and some have rolled down the hillside. I don't know if you are familiar with that cemetery or Peach Tree, but you can drive to within a mile from that cemetery and then you have to get out of your vehicle and walk. If you have a 4 wheel drive truck you can make it, but anything else its not passable. I had been looking for that cemetery for a couple of months and its difficult to find. The GPS leads you up the wrong fork of the hollow. Some of the local folk there can help you find it if you ever need to look for it. I made 4 trips to Peach Tree before I found it. If you find any other memorials that I manage, let me know and I will gladly transfer to you. I think its nice that ancestors or relatives tend to their own loved ones markers. In the Spring, I will get your picture and look for her husband. I m guessing he should be in there. I did see alot of memorial overturned and I was not able to turn them over to read them. Most of my research is done in that area or in Raleigh county WV. I am familiar with most cemeteries in that area. I hope that site I told you about this afternoon was helpful to you.

RE: Re: Nannie Sauls
Hello Paul,

The only other information I had on Nannie Sauls was her marriage certificate. I found it on www.wvculture.org I din't know her or any of her kin.

If you would like me to transfer this memorial to you, I would be happy to do so.

I only wrote the information down because the cemetery was in such a remote area and a location almost impossible to get to. I thought it best to enter them in case someone might be looking for them. The cemetery they are in is not passible by car and you have to walk about a mile to get to it.

In the spring, I will go back to that cemetery and photograph the markers if you want a picture of her marker. Let me know and I'll transfer to you if you like.

Nannie's memorial is entered as, "Nancy Sauls." It is # 109293251 I entered a memorial for her daughter, whose obit was in the local paper. There is a link on Nannie's memorial to her daughter's. I have no other info about her. I might be able to assist you with contacting survivors, but no promises, as I don't know them personally. Hope this helps, Merry Christmas!
