RE: Chess in Allegheny Cemetery
Hello Ryan,

I will go to the cemetery office and see what I can find. There were a lot of reinterments around that time. Allegheny Cemetery was relatively new and they were trying to free up space in the downtown area. A lot of churches moved their cemteries to the "new" cemetery and sold the ground around church.

William Chess's monument is black which could explain the coal connection. M Jane's gravestone is very old and I would not be surprised if the date is in the 1820's. The ground is still frozen or I would have dug it out a little to get a full date.

We still have some snow but most of it is residual from the snow plows which has now turned to blocks of ice. We have had a few flurries today but nothing dramatic. After a weekend in the 50's, today is in the 20's. It's just darn cold!

Once the ground thaws I will check the gravestones for M Jane and whoever is buried next to her. I have the pictures of the headstones if you would like to see them I will send them to you via email.

Will let you know what I find.

Chess in Allegheny Cemetery
Hello,

I looked for the Chess family in Allegheny Cemetery, Section 17 Lot 87. There is a spire monument for William Chess which I have posted. There are 2 full length in ground headstones behind the spire monument. One is for M Jane Chess but is partially covered and I can not read the one next to it. Do you have a plot map for the Chess lot? If not, I can get one at the cemetery office. It would identify who is buried where.

Let me know,

Zim~aka Janet

Child of Benjamin Herr
Here is a link to another child of Benjamin and Elizabeth's (Benjamin Jr.)...could you add this link this person's find a grave to Benjamin and Elizabeth's as well, similar as was done with Daniels?

REPLY: YOU WILL HAVE TO CONTACT PERSON WHO OWNS CHILD'S MEMORIAL PAGE.. THEY WILL NEED TO KNOW BENJAMIN'S MEMORIAL # AND ELIZABETH'S MEMORIAL # AND THAT CHILD-OWNER WILL HAVE TO 'FAMILY LINK' THE FATHER AND MOTHER ITEMS.
The only Family-Links options are Fathter, Mother and Spouse. I can add Benjamin or Elizabeth's parents but I cannot add their children.
