Doans From what I can figure out, Joel Doan and Sarah Doan Fresh were 4th cousins. Now, I have no idea how they ended up in the same area, but there were hundreds of Doans/Doanes who went to Michigan from Canada about the same time. I'm guessing it got crowded in Canada and there was new land available for homesteading in the US.

RE: Joel S Doan I think Sarah's parents are Levi Doan 60399691 and Anna Ramey 60399691 [Ramey is on her death certificate], and her husband was Christian Fresh 35985285. Right? Then I'm finding that Sarah's daughter Ann was married to Joseph Cobey, possibly this guy, 35916160, but the marker says he died in 1879 but his death record says 1890. I've seen markers off one year but not eleven years...

RE: Swanson family line First, let me ask, how does one become a genealogist??? Have toyed with the idea.. really love the digging. Next, my dealings with the Swanson Family is merely a connection thru marriage. Norma Struchen was my 2nd cousin 2x removed. However, because I never know when to quit (how sad, lol) I have the Pratts back to Adelaide's Father/Mother. First, I found a copy of Ada's death cert. The father's first name (? Case) is unknown as is his birthplace. The mother was Adeline Pratt, born in Canada. The Swansons hail from New York. Ada was from Westfield, NY. With further digging, I believe it goes like this. Her name was Huldah Adelaide Pratt. Born 9 Aug. 1853 in Crowland, Niagara, Ontario, Canada. She was the 2nd of 7 children. Father was Richard Edward Pratt (1832-1917). Mother was Mary Ann Doan (1826-1921). The family immigrated in 1866. Most likely you have all this, but just in case you missed something, here it is. Brian
