Bio and Links
I research families of Pickering, Chapman, Lane, Ripley, Ellis, Timbs, Brewer, Potter, and Bailey of East Tennessee, Virginia, Pennsylvania. Also their interaction with other Quaker families.
My wife's side includes Baxley, Chrisman and Oldroyd as well as Eyman in Florida, Georgia, and West Virginia.
Corrections: If you notice a mistake please notify me. There are too many people over too much time and I cannot know all of them.

Levi Pickering
There were two Levi Pickering's born in Greene Co., TN. around the same year. Back in the 70s a Pickering reunion was held there. A gentleman in attendance (with good intentions) had prepared family tree charts to distribute to attendees. He used the Newhope Quaker records, saw where a Levi Pickering was born December 13, 1824, son of Ellis and Deborah (Jones) Pickering and just assumed this Levi was the one who married Annis Gauntt and stayed in Greene county. However, this is incorrect. The Levi Pickering who was born Dec 13, 1824, son of Ellis and Deborah, married Cynthia Ann Ervin and went to Texas, then Okla. His brother Ellis and family would join him later, via Missouri. Also, another brother, Benjamin, would migrate. If one will look at the dates on Levi's gravestone it reads b Dec 13, 1824, d April 28, 1881. Levi is buried at Hewitt-Bomar Point Cemetery, 18 miles west of Ardmore, OK. Names of his children: Eliza Jane, John Daily, Mary Evaline, George Benjamin, Charity Emma, Cynthia Ellen, Levi, Jr., and Deborah.

my Marine brother, married Hannah Pickering in Hattiesburg, MS at the Ashleigh Manor July 4th, 2004 she is the daughter of Doug and Debbie Pickering from Hattiesburg. That was the first time I had ever heard the name. I am sending you a transfer hopefully you will find where she fits into your tree. Happy hunting, Bren
