Memorials
Charlene,

I also read your public messages and I assure you, all contributors will gladly delete a memorial if the family find it offensive for some reason. But it's almost a given that someone else in the future will add it.

Perhaps if you asked for it to be transferred to you rather than have it deleted, you could make the memorial to your family member the way you want it. I visit my fathers memorial page several times a month just to think of him and smile. His grave is in another state and I've only been able to visit it twice in person. People have left the most amazing notes of support and encouragement on his page that my mother appreciates.

My sincere sympathies for your loss,
Robin

RE: Find A Grave Contributors
Charlotte---it wasn't me that put your brother into Find A Grave--and I have no idea who he is. I'm just saying that it is an honor for anyone who died to be remembered. And you are right---the ones who knew him already know where he is. But the ones who don't know him won't really pay any attention.

It's the relatives in the future that will wonder about him someday, because more than likely he has many relatives. Not just the immediate ones. There will eventually be some that will want to link all of their family members. (Except maybe under certain conditions).

But I think it is sad that anyone would feel the way you seem to and would go so far as to lash out at someone who probably thought they were doing something that was OK. You could have used a little more tact at least.

Couldn't help but read your comment since it was made public.

But no-one intends to be disrespectful by putting in the names, etc. of the people who have died. In fact MOST people are GRATEFUL to those who have gone thru a lot of trouble to get those names and the places of where their ancestors, relatives and friends are now located into Find A Grave so that they can be found and linked to their other family members.

Most of us get THANKED!!!
