RE: Dukes Cemetery
Thanks, not sure about any records. Thanks, though. That cemetery had been overgrown since I was a kid, and I am 51 now. I remember the Blakeney stones. There also was a Civil War soldier's stone there too. My dad said someone threw a bunch of stones down the hill when he was in high school in the 40s. Probably covered over long ago. Thanks for replying.

Dukes Cemetery
Noticed you took photos of cemetery. It looks cleaned up but it also looks like a lot of the stones are missing. I used to frequent it when i was a kid. Many stones were by the entrance. The remnants of an old fence and archway were there for many years. Many stones were thrown down the hill in back toward the creek. Anyway, my grandfather's brother, Victor Wattebled/Walblay was buried there as a child around 1905. There used to be a very small stone and small fence around his plot as you walked in to the front of the cemetery. I guess that is all gone now. Anyway, would there be a more complete list for this cemetery somewhere that might include his name?

RE: Josiah Brooks
The cemetery book is by Barbara Craddock and was published in 1969.Our genealogy society has a copy and I am sure it is in Richland county. As far as getting a copy, I am betting it has been out of print for years. You might write to Richland County Genealogy Society, Olney, Illinois and ask. Kay

RE: Josiah Brooks
Josiah Brooks IS buried in Brooks Cem-----he was accounted for in Barbara Craddock's book which was published in 1969 stating he is there and so does his obit.

His parents are also buried there along with 3 of his brothers and sisters.

Got this from a gal in Richland county that checked it out for me.

RE: Josiah Brooks
I am only seeing one Brooks cemetery in Richland county. There is one in Jasper county. I have written to a friend who does genealogy in Richland county to see if she can shed some light on this. Kay

Forgot to thank you for looking. I have been to that cemetery, back in the boonies. The day we were there it was over run with enormous horse flies. Kay

Josiah Brooks - Brooks cemetery
Found another death notice that he is buried in Brooks cemetery. Possible that he does not have a stone. Kay

RE: Josiah Brooks
Our weather has not been fit for anyone to go into a cemetery for pictures. Still have snow at least once a week which leaves everything very muddy. Someone will fill the request eventually. Kay
