Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a database developer, possibly nearing retirement but nowhere near ready to stop working in the field. I have no genealogical experience to speak of, and I only began researching my family in mid-2013, but the use of databases for genealogical research very much fits with what I do. I would like to do some genealogy-specific database development myself later on, if and when there is time for that.

My main public trees can be accessed (for free) on my genealogy website at

My public trees are:
Scowden-Cummins (my family) -

Roberts-Anderson (my housemate's family) -

I can also be found on as Megan Brooks, on Ancestry DNA as mcb2k3, and on FamilyTreeDNA as Megan C Brooks.

John & Sarah Cummins Sponsorship
Hi Megan,
I want to thank you for sponsoring John & Sarah's memorials. I didn't see the email notice as it came in, just now found it. Are you related to this couple?
Again, thank very nice!

Farmers Vallely
Yes, it was Quaker State. The school wasn't that far from it either. There's something there, but can't remember what. I've been thru there a couple of times. It's changed a lot since I went to school, but guess everything has. I was in 7th grade when we moved, after my mother died.

RE: Find A Grave Correction: Ralph Scowden
Are you talking about a Quaker State refinery here? I know there's a refinery in Farmers Valley, and the Scowden house was right there.

RE: Find A Grave Correction: Ralph Scowden
I'm quite sure it was the oil fields. That's pretty much what every one did here, and still did when they moved. Some went to Oklahoma, and relatives are still there. But I guess that also explains why we didn't. My dad didn't really like working in the oil fields, because he learned to be a machinist, and never worked in oil again.

RE: Find A Grave Correction: Ralph Scowden
I just added your grandmother's obit today. I had been trying to organize all my info, putting it in a notebook, and I ran across some info on her with her parents names, so I looked them up, etc. Some of the Scowdens were put on recently, which explains why I couldn't find them before. You never know, you just keep looking. I still live in Pennsylvania (often wonder why my parents didn't migrate like others did), so I'm not far from the cemeteries. Still trying to locate some in Willow Dale, will probably go over this summer and walk around.

Scowden, Bertha and Gene
Then I guess I got their children right, but since they have to be linked thru the children, that's why I added them as I did.
