Beatrice Campbell
Barriett family
Thank you for all the work you have done on the Barriett Family. Putting it all together it gives me information that has been missing for many years. Alan Campbell is my son that contacted you in March.

The first Samuel Lawrence Barriett France) and Gunecin (Gertrude) Barriett (b. Spain) are the parents of Nellie Clara Barriett Bannon who was born in New Mexico. Nellie was the older sister to my grandfather, also named Samuel Lawrence Barriett. Nellie was married to Edwin Bannon, the stonemason only a few months before the 1880 census was taken in Grimes County, north of Houson, and is not listed with the rest of the family. In 1880 they listed Nellie's mother as"Gertrude"-age 42, father Samuel-age 60 , my grandfather Samuel, age 16, a younger brother and sister, a cook, and ten others from various countries. This information indicates they were part of a group of cattle drivers going north to the Chisholm trail. The 1880 census also picked up Samuel Lawrence Barriett in Brazos County further north and was listed as staying with the Anderson family where he died age sixty. All is based on the records submitted.

(My great grandmother's name in the tittle is spelled wrong. Most records used Gertude, but it was Gunecin "Gertrude"

RE: Barriett
As I recall I could not locate her name in the book at Calvary Cemetery, Evanston (Walnut Hills), Hamilton Co., Ohio. Of course there is always the possibility I overlooked it since I was searching for about 20 names that day. I recommend you call Ron at the cemetery, (513) 961-2179, and ask him to check their book for Barriett. You may also want to send another photo request and have another volunteer search for her. This cemetery is 20+ miles from my home and I don't go unless I have several requests to fulfill.
