RE: Laurel Branch Cemetery

Hi Stacy,

It's great to hear from you. If we get to visit the cemetery this year, I will do my very best to try to find your family members' graves and take a picture of their stones.

I believe the last time that we visited the cemetery was in 2014. I did not add stone photos until a few months later.

The Laurel Branch Cemetery is in the city limits of Evarts, Kentucky. At the junction of KY 38 and KY 215 you turn right onto KY 215. It's approximately 1 1/2 miles from the junction of KY 38/KY 215 (at the end of city limits). You will turn right onto "Laurel Br" Lane. "Br" stands for Branch.

The cemetery is on a small hillside in a wooded area (a lot of trees). To my knowledge, the county jail inmates cut/clear the cemetery off every year. It seems to be a well maintained cemetery.

When you visit the cemetery on Find A Grave again, click the map. You can view the street names and then while on the map, click satellite. By viewing satellite, you can view the actual cemetery (zoom in).

When you get a chance, visit the Turner Family Cemetery at the following link:

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&GSsr=41&GSmcid=48552406&GRid=137028319&CRid=2352972&

It is at the same location of the Laurel Branch Cemetery. The Turner Family has a large family section. I believe there's a couple of photos of the Turner's cemetery section.

I hope this information helps.

P.S. Yes, I am on Ancestry. However, it has not helped me that much. I've gathered far more on my own. That's not to disparage Ancestry; it's just that there is not that much info on this line.

MARY ELIZABETH DODD LONG
Hi Again Stacy! I am so happy to be in contact with a Dodd descendant. My grandmother was Annie Melinda Dodd McKinney. Her parents were William Jasper and Cora Dodd. Of course, the gggrandparents are James (sometimes called John) Dodd and Malinda Hall Dodd. I have done extensive research on this side of my family recently. In fact, am just now incorporating a lot of info I've gathered. I think we should correspond on email...what do you think?

Hello Stacy,
I always like to first say thank you for all your service on FindAGrave. Next, thank you so much for the above gravesite posting!! Mary was the sister to my maternal grandmother, Annie Melinda Dodd. I have looked long and low for her on the scanty info I had. Tonight I did one more try, and bingo, your contribution! Do you have any more info on her? My Uncle had said she had a daughter named Margaret who was killed in a motorcycle accident. Thanks for any further help!

Dupee
I got your report back, it is Dupee, not Dupree. They're obituaries say they are buried in Sunset Hills.

Amos and Eliza Woodruff
Hi Stacy,

The Woodruffs' grave markers (64115107) were found! rather by accident. Would you be willing to amend your message on the photo of their house? It may be confusing to some folks to see the memorials then read the message. I do, however, believe it is important to still note that the city doesn't have a record of their burial.

Thank you again for your work on their profiles. I appreciate it so much.

Stacy, in taking Stanley's pic did you happen to notice other WESTONs in the vicinity. I'm looking for his wife, Florence, whose death date/place I lack. Thanks, Bill
