William Texas Bennett
Grace,
I researching information, about people from our Shire who served in WW1, for our Historical Society, for a book of such as part of the local commemoration of the centenary of the landing at Gallipoli.

Your grandfather was apparently born at Mt Egerton, which was in the Ballan Shire, and he served and thus qualifies for inclusion in our book.

I'm only recording basic information but I could find no record of his birth nor parentage. If you could help supply those then we'd be most grateful. If you could share a photo then we'd be EXTRA pleased.

Regards,
Kevin Healey, Ballan VIC

I grew up in Missouri, but we are now living in Arkansas. One of my sons is living in Alice Springs. He makes it back to the US every two years. He have visited him twice.

Good luck with the memorial. It appears that you have some information which should be added.

I transferred the memorial to you. Let me know, if you need any help.

I got both messages. My wife and I were wondering why his middle name was Texas. We thought he might have been from the US.

Managing the memorials means you could make changes. You could add a biography and link other close relatives such as his wife, parents and children, if they are deceased and there is an existing memorial. There are other restrictions, but they can be addressed as they come up. For example, this is the memorial for my father. http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=mcguire&GSiman=1&GScid=440845&GRid=28778100&

You could also create other memorials such as your grandmother and link them.

Once you get the memorial like you want it, there would be no further need to change it except possibly add other links. I am 76 and I am not sure anyone else will take over the memorial or make further changes. I have two sons who might take an interest, but so far they have not.

If you do not want to manage the memorial, you can request changes using the edit box and I will try to make whatever changes you desire.

I found his memorial. I am very pleased that someone from Australia responded. I took pictues of all the veterans graves I could find when I was in Alice Springs visiting my son. If you desire the memorial to be transferred to you, let me know.

I am very happy to be of help.

I notice that you are a new member of findagrave. As a granddaughter you are entitled to get the memorial transferred to you. I would be happy to do this. However, I have looked through my records and I have not been able to find William Texas Bennett. In what cemetery is he buried? It also helps to have the memorial number. It is located near the bottom of the memorial page.
