RE: Lewis Willson
Harriette,

I don't know what the correct spelling was. The death record has two r's and the gravestone, one. But it's become my policy to create memorials with the same spelling that appears on the grave stone because if I don't, then someone will come along behind me, photograph the stone and create a new memorial with that spelling, and we'll have a duplicate. In this situation, if push comes to shove, I usually have to concede the issue and delete my memorial because the spelling didn't match the grave stone. And after all the trouble I've gone to, I don't want to do that.

As far as your family history is concerned, I think you should use whichever spelling seems right and simply note that there was a discrepancy between the death record and the grave stone.

Lewis Willson
Hello Harriette,

Thank you so much for sponsoring Lewis Willson's memorial.

The weather was not photography-friendly in VT this summer (there was an unbelievable amount of rain), but I finally got to Sudbury the week before we returned to California. And I photographed his stone, as well as the stone for Julia Ann and their daughter Harriet.
