RE: Rosetta Babcock Mattison Gilbert
Hi Sunny Easton:
Refer to Rosetta Babcock, Mattison, Gilbert, McCoy, Hernes #93029535
She is buried under the 3rd husbands name of McCoy.
The McCoy children probably were paying for her tombstone so in Find A Grave we listed it as McCoy even though it should have been last husband Ed Hernes.
That is in question whether she and Ed Hernes were common-law or officially married. No marriage record found to date.
Yes, Rosetta Violet Babcock was my grandmother's 1st cousin. She was daughter of Z. Taylor Babcock or Taylor Babcock and his 1st cousin Clarissa Roxina Dake of Lincoln Twp. Newaygo Co., MI.
Taylor Babcock had brother Henry Truman Babcock who was my great grandfather. My grandmother Elfa Rose Babcock, Foster, Monks. She lived with us in San Bernardino, CA. after parents left Michigan after WWII.
Rosetta Violet Babcock aka Violet Babcock one of the most complex ladies I have ever researched. So many questions unanswered.
Yes, her second husband was Philemon D. Gilbert
Find A Grave#144326139. I believe they had only one child
William Dominic Gilbert #85967299. When his parents divorced or separated William D. Gilbert was raised by his father. Rosetta had Mattison children by her 1st marriage. Later had many children by McCoy.
Philemon D. Gilbert b. 1828 New York son of John B. Gilbert and Ruth Garner m. 27 Feb. 1892 Leavitt, Oceana Co., MI. to 3rd wife Rosetta Babcock, Mattison. He died after 1900 Federal Census possible Macon, Powhaton Co., Virginia or returns to Michigan and dies there.
They divorce/separate and Philemon D. Gilbert dies by 1902 where?
William Dominic Gilbert b. 26 Aug 1893 Walkerville, Oceana Co., MI. marries Nellie Cecelia Bryan 25 June 1913 Riverton, Mason Co., MI. Divorced 15 May, 1928 Muskegon, MI.
She remarries to Henry George Radel.
William D. Gilbert 1920 Muskegon Heights, MI.
1930 Norton Shores, Muskegon Co., MI.
1940 ?
I would appreciate more information on your grandfather William Domenic Gilbert. I have many questions?
You might like to get in touch with Cathy Colon
whose grandmother was Thressa-Tressa McCoy, King, Simmons. She has the Maintence now in Find A Grave now for Rosetta Violet Mattison, Gilbert, McCoy, Hernes who is a direct descendant. I turned it Rosetta Violet over to her because it is her direct line.
You probably saw my querie to Frank Mcrorie.
Need his e-mail again. Do you have it?
Please contact me at home e-mail since we have
multiple information to share. So answers to your questions is YES.

Any chance you can find Emma Lee Goodman's husband Albert G Van Brocklin's burial in this cemetery...maybe beside her?

If so would you be so kind as to add his memorial and a photo of where (even if there's no stone). Just I.D. under CAPTION in the photo where he would be!

Thanks so very much for your help and for your effort.
