I can give you photo lessons! LOL! I've taken thousands here. If the stone is placed correctly (facing east - rising sun), the best time to take gravestone photos is in the mornings. You also have to squat down and be face on. (That part is getting a little tough at my age!) I'm happy with the one you got. No need to get fancy.

Hello John,
It was exciting to hear from you. Carl told me he has been in contact with you. He said you have been able to identify some of the pictures he has and clear up where John's shop was. My mom was there several times as a child with her parents visiting "Aunt Gert." We have a camp in Caledonia and a cousin has a camp in Brockay so I have been there several times. I look forward to talking with you soon. My email is

My maiden name is Cox. We lived on the hill in Brockway - the house that was always decorated for Christmas. Your name is familiar but I don't remember your sisters. I ran around with Lynn Bassetti, Cindy Fustine, Julie Beers.

Hi John:

Thanks for taking the time to get a photo of Denny's grave. He was my husband's cousin. (P.S. I should know you - I grew up in Brockway, too.)

We found the Church but did not know the house was across the street. Tomorrow I'll send you the pictures we took when we were there. I have some of Anna Smith Anderson's pictures too, and I believe it is from when they lived around there. Thank you ! I'll be in touch by email tomorrow, Thursday. Carl

We will definitely connect. Last Summer, just over a year ago, I was in Brockway and made it out to Westville and visited Beechwood and found all those graves. We have another "cousin" Rose Eakins Elliot who is Carl Smith's great granddaughter. I truly appreciate you messages and connecting. I will send you some of the old pictures I have that were handed down to us by Anna Smith Anderson. You may recognize a building, I think it is from out there. I will send you an email when I get them scanned. I really appreciate hearing from you.

Be well,

Thank you very much ! I guess we are cousins then. Even though my grandfather was "Carl" and my father was "Carl" my grandmother, Anna Smith Anderson always said she wanted me named Carl after her brother. I vividly remember meeting "Aunt Gertie" when I was very little. I also know I met Carl Smith on at least one occasion too way back when I was a child. I'll be 69 in November. Carl Smith's great granddaughter has found me through We actually met out in the area just outside of Brockway where her husband has a hunting cabin. We visited the graveyard and were very happy to see the flowers. I'd love to meet you some day. If I get back out that way I'll let you know. Thank you so much for the message. God Bless,
