RE: Making a Bio
I understand your concern. I learned the hard way that my over 20 years of research and my family pictures were copied from Find A Grave and now showing under other peoples names on internet sites. Find A Grave is now part of which I had always avoided sharing information with. Keep your Bio short such as show some of the surnames that you are interested in. The Will that you questioned has been removed by the person who added it to the memorial.

Made a Bio
I see that you are a 2 year member who has only entered one memorial? Would you consider making a Bio for yourself. You read and question other memorials but give no information who you are. Knowing what surnames that you are interested in would be helpful.

The Will attached questioned
The Will attached to the memorial for Mary Polly McGee Ferguson was attached by member K. I agree it is the wrong Will for this memorial. I sent K your message about the Will as it is for a different Ferguson and not Jeremiah. I made the memorial but I have no control over what is attached by other members.

Binghamton Cemetery
I just saw that you were unable to find a grave here. Try calling the phone number associated w/the cemetery; I think it is posted on the gate. Anyhow, it is the number for the caretaker who knows the cemetery like the back of his hand.

I have called him many times and he can tell me lickety-split where the grave is and if there is even a marker. Once or twice he asked me where I was in the cemetery and he has walked me, via phone, exactly to the marker!

Kinda gruf guy on the phone, but very helpful.

East Lawn Photos
Just heard from another volunteer a couple of days ago and she ran into extreme resistance from East Lawn. Not only would they not tell her the location of graves, they reiterated their policy of absolutely no photographs.

Please be very subtle when you go to East Lawn, only ask for a 2 to 3 locations and be very discreet when you use a device to take the photos. For heavens sake, don't mention, hint at or say anything about Find a Grave! If you can, wear a shirt that mentions an out of state school or city and let them draw their own conclusions that you may be visiting from out of town.

Be safe, be discreet!

Photo requests at East Lawn Cemetery
Hello Joanne,

Today I luckily took photos of the William Brainard and Patty Brainard grave markers. It was near some others I was taking at the same time.

If you have trouble with the cemetery office as Linda's message seems to alert us about let me know and I will post them.

I did not want to post them and be rude while you have an active photo claim in place.

RE: East Lawn Cemetery
Oh my gosh! I forgot to tell you why East Lawn is hostile to non family members! Geez! Here's the story, it is legendary! I don't know all the details. . .

East Lawn caught a woman defacing a newly placed marker and she was the ex-wife of the deceased. That is why management is so hostile to non-family.

Give it some time and eventually there will be a different receptionist at the desk when you go back and / or a different administrator that will look up and direct you to the grave site. Only ask for 1 or 2 locations at a time. Say as little as possible, one time wear a hat, wear a t-shirt that has an out-of-state college, location, etc (let them make the assumption you are from out of state). If questioned about your relationship to the decease, have your story ready that this is your mom's XXXX and since you were in town your mom asked you to pay your respects.

If you are married, have your husband go in one time & ask for 1 or 2 locations--mix it up!

Let your photo request expire, give it a couple of months and then start back w/East Lawn very slowly & gently. If somebody else claims them that's okay (I won't as I love going to Evergreen even tho it is on the opposite side of town!) or I can claim them, meet you there, get the locations and you take the photos to post. There are always plenty of photo requests for East Lawn. OR, yes, there's more. . .! Ask the person placing the request to contact East Lawn to give you the location. I have a map of East Lawn I can scan & email to you that way you can bypass the office..
