Bio and Links
Bio Photo My interest in genealogy came from my late mother's desire to provide a family history for my children and me. Soon after inheriting and transcribing her extensive research, I began to collect information about my husband's family. Our ancestors came from Virginia and North Carolina to Middle Tennessee and finally settled in the western counties of Carroll, Crockett, Dyer, Gibson, and Weakley.

My mother found her information in worn family Bibles, dusty courthouse basements, and hot country cemeteries long before computers were common. Data was exchanged in letters bearing three-cent stamps, and copying a picture required a trip to a photography studio in another town. Because I know how much she would have enjoyed using today's technology, I am honored to be "Mother's Hands."

Hillman Westbrook
Hello,

Looks like we have a little mystery. I believe my link for mother is right. I found a few records to compare but dates change on the records. Hillman's SSN has birth date of 23 Aug 1899. His delayed birth record 23 Aug 1901. Also on the record he lists Mary as his mother.

Next thing I look at was his father Joseph Alfred Westbrook. I found marriage record to Mary Gatewood 12 Jan 1887 and marriage to Louvanna Abernathy 19 Aug 1909 both in Weakley County. Could this be Louvanna Ridgeway/Abernathy? I didn't find any records of her being Ridgeway being married to Abernathy first.

Last thing point you think the Brown memorial for Mary Gatewood DOD could be off just a little. I knew the death date and birth for Hilman was close

Gravestone Photo Permission
I am happy to see that you photographed the gravestone of George W. Alford in Fairview Cemetery, Dyersburg, TN (Memorial# 115898467).

I would like to add this gravestone photo to the (non-profit) Alford American Family Association's collection of South Carolina Obituaries, where his obituary is (or will be) included because he died there. You can see the current collection at http://www.alfordassociation.org/OBITS/SCOBIT.htm.

May I have your permission to include your gravestone photos? If so, the photo caption will say:

Photo from [cemetery name, city, county, state]—www.findagrave.com
Permission granted by the photographer, Mother's Hands [or your name if you prefer]

And thanks so much for your gravestone photo work!

Best regards,
Pamela Alford Thompson (Find A Grave #47195155)
