Today we walked where others walked |
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where others cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.
Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.
Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.
Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.
Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.
Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be treasured for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.
Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

I noticed that you created a memorial last September for Nathan Wroten (#135407268) in Cicero Cemetery, IN. You have his death date as 1859. I've known that he died sometime between 1850 and 1860, but I haven't been able to identify exactly when he died. Could please share where the 1859 date came from? I would be most grateful.

Thanks so much. I have other similar articles but not that particular one. James and Patsy are my husband's 3rd great-grandparents, so I collect all I can find. Thanks again.

Thanks for replying. There can be much confusion in researching the McCormick family. Some go by McCormick and some by McCormack and sometimes both! There are some duplicates in the cemetery. I'm not saying you are wrong, but just would like to see the documentation. Before you go to the cemetery, check the website, https://www.waynetwp.org, first as the cemetery will be closed in February, presumably for repair and restoration which is badly needed. Hope you find him and his wife, Nancy.

This is my Grandfather...He and his wife Geraldine P.Hufford lived behind the Cartersburg Springs which he worked for years..It was a sort of health spa in its time ..He delivered water from there. After he and Geraldine divorced he Married Maggie Lamb ..I adored her..I have been told she had married before him to a man last name of Williamson and he had died but was never able to find any information on him The Springs was remodel and made into a inn but don't know if its still there..Haven't been back there for years
Thank you for all the information you've been sending

I'm curious about your Find A Grave Memorial# 141314573 of Wm. McCormick. I research this family regularly and have not been able to find his final resting place. Do you have a reference for this and can you share it with me? I don't find him in the list of burials for Mt. Jackson on the Wayne Twp., Marion Co., IN Trustee's list. Appreciate and info you have.
