Bio and Links
Bio Photo My interests in genealogy lies with my family's roots in southern West Virginia. Walkers on my mothers side and Hatchers on my fathers side.
My cousin, Glennis Walker, wrote a 700+ page book of the Walker History going back to 1734. I took an interest of photographing headstones of ancestors in the cemeteries I was familiar with and then it spread out to larger ones in Beckley and now I am trying to find EVERY cemetery named in this book. I am compiling Find A Grave printouts and cross referencing them to the page they appear in the Walker History book.
I will never ask for a transfer of a memorial that I am not related to the person. I hope one of these days my grandson and future generations to come will appreciate our efforts.
Thanks to Find A Grave volunteer photogs I have received headstone pictures as far away as California and Oregon. Once, while visiting my in-laws in southern Texas, I went to Ft. Sam Houston and found the grave of my third cousin that was killed in WWII.
Other family names in my genealogy are Bailey, Mills, McComas, Lilly, Meadows, Wallace, Woods, Daniels, among others.

In June, 2016 I completed inputting Glennis Walker's "The History of The Walker Family 1734 - 1990 & Their Kindred" book on an online family tree along with all the stories he included in the book. If your family is in this book and you would like to view the tree, please email me and I will supply you with the link and password.

Before you send an edit request for names, dates, or links, please provide proof backing up your information. I won't change or add any information on my memorials without official documentation, such as; marriage license, death or birth certificates or newspaper obituaries. Just because you say so, doesn't mean it is. I don't particularly trust census reports or information someone posted on ancestry sites to be adequate proof, so if you could, please provide official documents listed above. I'm into this for accurate information on my memorials, not for numbers where census reports are used to create memorials with problems, just to get a number on my profile. Also, if you don't accept messages on your message board or provide an email address in case I have questions, don't expect me to make any changes. Again, just because you say so, doesn't mean it is!

RE: Benning links
Thank you for your response. I am still at a loss as to how to provide documentation using the Edit option.

RE: Benning links
Your bio states that you do not accept edits without having documentation. You have declined some of my edits in the past, so I used suggested changes so I could inform you where the information came from. I don't know any way to provide documentation using Edits. I don't submit edits if I can't verify the information. Having published a family history for my family, I realize the importance of accuracy.

RE: Carson Walker
I think the tombstone spelling of her name is wrong. It has "McGee" rather than "McGhee." According to the records here, they were married in 1950, as the findagrave memorial states:

No, I'm not related but my husband is a distant cousin of yours. He is descended from John Walker, brother of Crispi Anos Walker. My sister-in-law and I went to Odd in 2014 and met some of your relatives. While there, we had a nice visit and got to peruse the Walker genealogy book. Then we visited the cemetery and took some photos.

Otis Hawley memorial
Hi there!

We are most certainly cousins of some kind, as we are in the Glennis Walker book.

Anyway, Otis L. Hawley was sent to the Reformatory in Pruntytown, near Grafton. He was arrested for stealing the mail. I have a few newspaper accounts of when he escaped from the reformatory with some other fellow. It might have been that he died shortly thereafter, as he had gotten ill during his escape due to exposure.

You would think that the family might have been notified, but it's possible that they might not have, so they thought he just disappeared.
