Bio and Links
Bio Photo Family surnames I am currently researching: WININGER/WINEGAR, THORN/THORNE, POULSON, McINTYRE, SANDERS, BRANSON, BARNES, MILLS, CHAPPELL, MACY, PRICE, LANDERS, TUCKER, RENO, GREGOROSKI/GREGOSKI/GREGORSKI/GRZEGOZEWSKI, HARVILL, PARKER, COLLINGS, BROCK, WEAVER and SHEPHERD. I was born in Jasper County, Missouri and have 2 sons, who still live there. I have relatives scattered here and there.

I am continuing research on a particular bit of the history of McDonald County, Missouri (sometimes called McDonald Territory) and have a page concerning their well-known attempt to secede from the State of Missouri, in 1961. (See the link given below.) Thank you to the then-Governor Orval Faubus of Arkansas who graciously offered to accept McDonald County into the State of Arkansas. "After all," he said, "it would offset the "bootheel." Oddly enough, to this day, McDonald County, although in Missouri, remains as a part of the Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers Federal Metropolitan Statistical Area. To me, the incident provided a fascinating story, which tied in to another interest: philately and cover collecting (local posts).

The Find A Grave site provides a way for me to share a lifelong interest in history, of which tombstones play an inseparable role. I worked in investigations for almost 20 years, so I miss those kinds of challenges. I hope to be of some service as a volunteer, to those involved in genealogical research. While I'm new to this site, I have been doing research along these same lines for some years.

RE-USE OF PHOTOGRAPHS: For now, and subject to revision if such grant is abused, I will grant blanket permission for (you) to use any photograph I have taken, as long as it is for non-commercial use and not for monetary gain, and will be used for your personal documentation only in historical or genealogical research purposes; and will not be re-posted to a subsequent website who as a matter of course, makes claim to legal ownership of photograph(s) uploaded to their site, for their own purposes. Please credit any photos so used as follows: " Find A Grave contributor # 48190645, used with permission. [SEE: http://findagrave.com]"

Please note that I am most likely not related to the deceased person of memorials I have entered, and no claim of "ownership" is intended. In some instances, creating an online memorial at this site, just felt like the right thing to do, given the time that had elapsed since their passing. I have no way of knowing if there are living relatives interested in doing the work in maintaining such an online memorial. If you would like to have a memorial transferred to you for active maintenance, follow the suggested Find A Grave guidelines and send me a request with the details of your interest and your connection to that person.

=========================================

Never mind my prior comments on the new quick-edit feature on FAG! The manager of the memorial has to check it; it does NOT work the way I thought it did. I certainly didn't intend to over-burden or cause a lot of work for anyone; I really thought it was an automated process and didn't realize that the changes I was suggesting, including such relatively simple things as plot numbers, were all going back to the original manager anyway. I certainly am not trying to pick on anyone; I was hoping to add information that would be useful to researchers and genealogists. So, Folks, if you would, would you please remember to check your "EDITS" tab on your profile every so often? I have had people tell me they didn't realize they were supposed to. If you do the edits outside of the system, they will still show up on my end as "pending." In other words, if you don't click on the tab, and then go through the steps, you can make an edit, but it doesn't clear it from the system. So, this is all much appreciated!!
--------

Here's my favorite new "trick" from an uncooperative FAGer; declining multiple additions of plot number(s) for a particular cemetery because: "the information DIFFERS from theirs" -- (theirs is blank)!! In other words, they just don't want to change "their" memorial from the way it is now. Amazing. AND another new one; refusing addition of information that THEY already have included in the bio they wrote for the memorial, but they apparently don't like to use the "nickname" field that FAG provides for when the person was called by something different than what appears on the marker. Remember, this is not info I added, it is THEIR own info. Nope, declined. ! Come on people, this approaches ignorance and is just sheer non-cooperation.

Current number of PENDING "EDITS": 938

Thank you to those who have checked and processed your edits! (As of 10 JULY 2014)

=========================================

Please feel free to send me corrections or additions to any entries I have created. I am a "detail" person and I prefer the records to be correct and precise. If you are requesting changes in any memorial that I have created, please list numbers for those involved and give the details and sources. Please do use the "edit" tab at the top of the memorial page in question, to request such changes.

Sorry Wes, I don't. Your theory sounds logical though. I just stumbled onto the cemetery because my work takes me to Tahlequah and Stilwell. The stones were definitely at Hungry Mountain because I took the photos and created the memorials from the photos. I'd be interested to know if your theory is correct. Keep me posted!

RE: WOODRAL at Hontubby
I am kinda new to this find a grave stuff but have created several memorials and added pictures to many of my and my husband's families. My mom kept up with genealogy on both sides of my families. She never threw away anything and I have tons of old pictures. I will do my best. I need to get to the Hontubby Cemetery and take pictures the next time I am in that area of the state.

I am not trying to be disrespectful but my mother-in-law was Lesie's daughter. Her name was NOT Leslie with 2 l's, or at least that is what her daughter says and my husband too. I can take a picture of her obituary and post it. Her son, or my mother-in-law's brother was Leslie Clay Woodral.

Wes, I do not know how that happened. That's not even his wife's name. I tried to remove her a a spouse, but I'm not able to. The number doesn't show up; no number shows up. Will you try to edit it on your end and see if her memorial number shows up. If it does then you can delete the number from the spouse spot. This is a mystery to me.

too early
Doesn't findagrave have some rules on waiting til a person is buried to post the memorial.After all the final resting place is not determined until the deceased is in the ground.This lilliebell is apparently waiting for us to die so she can add another number to her 135,000 plus that she already has.I am currently in the process of transferring my memorials to a relative so I won't turn into someone like this lilliebell where numbers is all that matters.I will then close out my account so people will have to find someone else to harass.Findagrave has such nasty and greedy ,disrespectful people.

RE: updates
I was just wondering is it not possible to get any info on these people.It would be great to know something about them.I am still searching for my deceased relatives and I search in all that I can and since you had over 4000 memorials and seemed to be from the same area I just thought I might find something on yours but if this offends you,sorry about that.
