I'm a southern girl with northern roots. I was born and raised in South Carolina but both branches of my family tree are from Indiana. |
I have two children, Curtis and Nina. Their dad's family, the Rabons, have been in South Carolina since there was a South Carolina.
I love doing my family's history.
I want to thank all those who have been lending a helping hand along the way. It means a lot.

question...I got Peter Zelasko/Zelosko/Calaski...death certificate in the mail today...it lists his mother's name as Frances Balento and father as A. Zalosko. Have you ever came across the name Frances Balento?? I am 99% sure that this Peter is our Peter because we had two aunts confirm that he died young and is buried in South Bend. It's possible that this Frances could have died young and we just can't find her. Just a theory. Thought I would ask you what you think.

|Pat Calaski||Zalasko/Calaski family|
I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am at this moment. My husband is Carl Calaski III. His Gr-Grandfather was Peter Calaski...he knew that there had been a name change at some point but I was never able to find the link. I was stuck at Peter Calaski.
Well, today that wall finally broke and I found the info I needed. Peter Calaski is Peter Zalasko. Son of Andrew and Constancia Zalasko. I see that you carry the Zalasko name and I just felt the need to reach out to you.
Hi cousin! We live in Bedford, Indiana, but Carl's family is from LaPorte and South Bend area. Wow! that is all I can say at the moment!

Bonnie, everything I know about Abraham is listed at his memorial. There are several Abraham Rabon's memorial & Abram Rabon, Jr. If I find anything else will certainly let you know. :)

I can check that out. I will be going to church in Marquette Sunday morning.
Summit Township and Rupert Cemetery are one and the same but they have two listings.. they should be merged... here is the link the other memorial with his http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=55375239

According to the cemetery book, the first wife of John Rupert is buried in the Rupert (or Summit Township) cemetery, but there is no stone. According to a newspaper notice, a Mrs. John Rupert died in Nov. 1880 in Brookville, and I believe that is her. There are no other Rupert stones in this cemetery.
If you look in the list of Saline County, Kansas cemeteries and find the Brookville Cemetery, Frederick Rupert is listed and there is a picture of his stone. Also, John and his second wife are listed and their stone is pictured. Also there is a stone pictured for a Sarah Rupert Daugherty.
According to the cemetery book, a Mrs. Mary A. Rupert is buried in this cemetery, but no section or lot is listed and she's not on the Find-A-Grave listing for this cemetery, so I'm inclined to think there is not stone for her. The book says she was born 28 Sept 1839 in England and died 12 Dec. 1924 in Brookville of asthma. "Husband and one child are dead and Mrs. Emma Frost of CA survives."
Also, in Saline County, the Assaria Lutheran Church cemetery has a Selma Rupert and her husband Daniel listed and their stone is pictured.
And in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Charles, Delphine and George Rupert are listed and their stones are pictured.
Also, according to the cemetery book, a Catherine Ann (nee Rupert) Anthony, wife of William H. Anthony, b in PA 6 May 1835, d 22 Dec 1903 of pneumonia is listed in the Elm Creek Cemetery, NW of Salina, but this cemetery is not listed in Find-A-Grave. It is a small cemetery out in the country. If the roads are decent, I can see if I can find it and try to get a photo.
There are 2 other cemeteries in Salina that could have some Ruperts, but I didn't check their indexes on Find-A-Grave yet. They are large cemeteries. One is the Gypsum Hill Cemetery and the other is Roselawn Cemetery.
