My interest is to assist in gathering information, locating, and photographing grave sites of Veterans.|
I'm a retired, 30 year Veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Serving from 1974-2004.
Currently I am a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, Marine Corps Association, and the First Marine Division Association.
Project: The American Legion Post 26 of Bakersfield is creating a "Book of Honors." The "Book of Honors" consists of the names and branch of service of each service member Killed in Action from Bakersfield.
Our goal is to discover and document the stories of these service members.
* If you have any personal knowledge or a family story concerning any service member from Bakersfield who was Killed in Action, please contact me at GunnerBill0306@aol.com

Yes, picture on this website (Find A Grave) is his correct picture...and I just posted an updated picture of his actual headstone.
Some of the other sites that I was referring to are already in the process of correcting his photo per my request (ie., Vetfriends, Together We Served).
I am definitely interested in posting on your memorial website and will go and check out how to build a profile for my father.
I want to thank you again for your efforts (I know how time-consuming and exhausting the process can sometimes be). But please know that this is welcoming information that comes with heart-filled gratitude knowing that our loved ones are being honored and remembered for future generations.

Hi Bill, I am the only daughter and living relative of Paul Wilson, PFC. I have been doing lots of research on my father's life, as well as, the circumstances surrounding his death. I have noticed that there are several websites (such as the ones you have mentioned) that honor my dad, however, the picture (man with glasses) is incorrect. I'm not sure how this happened, but I would like to correct them and wasn't sure if I should find the "source" directly or go to each site and request a correction. Please advise. Thank you, Shellie Wilson-Verissimo

Please take down your photo of the medals on this memorial.

The main section at Union Cemetery has been completed by Find A Grave. All service members with or without a marker have a memorial page.
When possible if it is noted on a marker I add a
Purple Heart, Bronze Star, or Silver Star. Some of the awards, like an Oak Leaf Cluster I do not
know which one is proper to use, so I have not put it on any memorial page.
As far as I know, you are the only service person who has contacted me. If you live locally maybe I could walk you through the Vet Section to let see
how far Find A Grave has gotten.
There are many service persons that are buried at Union that aren't in the Vet Section. Their memorial page has a photo of the monument that is in the Vet section along with their Marker.
Question ?? How do we get markers for the service persons that don't have markers? Is there a group that can help get them for Union?
