Bio Photo My Dad's enjoyment of family tree research is what got me interested, and when he passed away, I inherited all his notes and have taken on the hobby too. What a great hobby! It has been wonderful to 'meet' nice folks through e-mails.

RE: Ella Shotts, Edom
You're most welcome, Mark. I have a brother in Riverside Military Cemetery and a contributor was nice enough to photograph it for me, so I'm just returning a favor. If there's anything else in this area please feel free to let me know.

Well Unc, you are quite welcome. I live in Amarillo and not too far from Clovis. If you have anyone that you think might have settled around here that you need help with, just let me know. You can contact me via email..just remind me in the subject line that we 'met' here on FindAGrave. Any time,

RE: Ella Shotts, Edom
the listing is actually a survey conducted by the Van Zandt Historical comm. I'm not aware of records kept by the cemetery; this is a community cemetery and in times past everyone just 'did their thing', families kept their own graves and eventually began mowing and depended on donations. No one realized the need to keep records and those in charge had little authority. If all the graves had markers there wouldn't be problems, but this is true of all the cemeteries I'm familiar with and findagrave is the most complete listing, updated by the research of you and others. Sadly, many graves, especially infants, are lost as family wasn't always financially able to provide a proper marker, and this continues to the present. I see many funeral home markers and mowers have no mercy on them. I see Grady L. Shotts listed in the survey and on my next trip will get a photo of his marker and add it to findagrave. Wish I could be of more help.

RE: Joseph C and Tennie Heard
No Uncle350, Joseph and Tennie Heard are not related to me. I was at the cemetery taking photos of my husband's relatives and their headstones just were so beautiful. It was a yukky day so the photos didn't turn out that well. I'm glad to see that someone has posted better photos of their headstones. I deleted mine so that only the pretty photos would remain.

I transferred maintenance of both memorials to you. Family should be with family.

The 2002 survey doesn't show Ella; may've been overlooked or not marked. Any idea where she might be or buried next to would be helpful, the cemetery is too big to walk and still might miss what you're looking for.
