Robert Gordon Owens
My late husband, Robert Gordon Owens, was first cousin to your Robert Gordon Owens, Jr. Bob's (my Bob's) father was brother to Robert Gordon Owens, Sr. Both were sons of Clinton Brown Owens. When Lawton Corley Owens (brother of Robert G. Owens, Sr.) had his first son in 1925, he named him for his brother. That brother had already had a son named Robert Gordon Owens, Jr. So, we have two R.G. Owens, who were first cousins, one a Jr., one not. I was well aware of Gen. R.G. Owens' distinguished military career. My R.G. Owens served in WW II in the 28th Division. He was in five major battles, one of which was the Battle of the Bulge. He was wounded twice, but luckily he survived to come home.

I have a letter Bob wrote to his mother in which he tells her that someone in his outfit asked if he was related to the ace flying in the Pacific and he told them that was his cousin.

I'll email you more details on the Owens line. I have information on those before William Aiken Owens.
