RE: Assenath Piggott Patterson
Dear Cousin Ann,
I read Captains of the Wilderness avidly and have depended on it for much that I've posted on Find A Grave about the Piggotts. Got a copy from a lady in Illinois at cost, which was very generous considering it's been out of print for years. I've been warned (by others) that it may have engaged in some flights of fancy about details, but I'm confident that the most part of it is as "true" as can be managed working from scanty documentation after 200 years. It was originally recommended to me by another distant cousin (on the Patterson side) from Hyannis, Massachusetts. What a tale! Makes my kind of proud to be descended from such brave, hardworking, enterprising people.

Assenath Piggott Patterson
Dear Cousin Ann,
Nice to see the forget-me-nots you left for Assenath Piggott Patterson, your fifth great grandmother, my third great grandmother. Her family on both sides were among the earliest Anglo settlers west of the Mississippi, predating Missouri being part of the United States. And of course, through her father Captain Piggott, you could qualify for the DAR if you had a mind to.
Very best,
