I have been doing genealogy for five years so far. I have been able to fill in a lot of the gaps that were missing from the information that I started with. |
I check and double check my information. I know that I can't always be perfect, but will always try to get the information as close as I can.
I gather information from microfilm, documents at the Hancock Historical Society, tombstones, and Courthouses.
I have been focusing on the Koechle/Kachle Family of Nauvoo which is my grandmother's maternal side.
I will eventually put the information into a book for the family members to have.
Our ancestors deserve to be remembered more than just a name on a page.
I am also a guide for the Nauvoo Historical Society on Saturdays. I am currently trying to create an updated cemetery list of the Nauvoo City Cemetery #2 Records.
If you would be willing to become a member of the Nauvoo Historical Society contact me and I will let you know how you can become a member.

I am related to him and his wife Malinda Marie (Gifford)Horton; therefore, I will graciously accept the transfer.....at your convenience though! Thank you, Drake

I quite agree that it is not the right time to do outdoors research at a cemetery.
We'll be patient.

Question....Are you related to him?????
|Virginia Young||Clara Cambre|
Thank you for your good work at Nauvoo. I wonder if you would re-check the stone for Clara Cambre. I believe she may have been born in 1883 and died in 1927. I believe she was the daughter of Leon, with whom she shares the stone photographed in the Nauvoo Cemetery. It appears to me that Leon's wife Mary is buried in another cemetery altogether. The dates I have for Leon are 1852 to 1937.
My interest in this particular family comes from the intertwining of my grandmother Norma's sister's marriage to Adrian Cambre, a physician, and Grace's early death and consequent burial at Nauvoo. Her maiden name was Grace Priest; as a married woman, she was Grace Cambre. Adrian is buried in the Nauvoo Cemetery also (by her).

|Tree Leaf||Thank you.|
Thank you for adding the various edits, and for all you do.

Thank you very much, for the memorials for John D. and Catherine (Fulton) Johnson. They are very important to me. Thank you for creating their pages, also.
I would love to have any obituaries or anything you can find on them, if it is no trouble. I do have a researcher working in Hancock county, just to let you know. But maybe your local papers have something else. I'd especially like to know where they were from. Pennsylvania is all I know.
Thank you again for the pages, and for all you do.
Thank you for adding the Schencks from Navoo. Do you know who Christian Schenck's parents are? Do you have any information on John Schenck?
|Carolyn Whitlock||George Edward Reinhardt, Jr.|
George Edward Reinhardt Jr. was born 18 April 1898 in Sonora Township, Illinois. Source: WWI Draft Registration Card. He died on 20 Oct 1975, Muscatine, Iowa. Source: Nancy Diemer Shevakos, formerly of Nauvoo, Illinois. Hope this helps. I also have a photo of his gravestone that makes the dates very clear.
Note: George's WWI Draft Registration Card says his middle name is Edwin. It also says, "This Boy is nearly blind can't see to file his name."
His obituary says his middle name was Edward.

Please check George Hauptmann's head stone. You will see that his wife Margaret is also on head stone. It states that her birth date is Nov 1, 1844 and died Apr 18, 1940.
