I thought you told me that Nancy never came to Michigan, only her husband and her daughter.

RE: Harriet McCune Glasgow
FindAGrave's policy states specifically not to post obituaries.

You know, I found the article about McCune quite by accident and thought it was interesting. There are quite a few newspaper sites for Appanoose & Wayne counties if you'd like to see the whole page.

CentervilleFree Newspapers:

I was so surprised that someone from that area was an ambassador to FRANCE at that time! Pretty cool!

I was going to write sbout it on my blog, if you have any additional info, would be glad to include.

RE: Samuel McCune
Thank you for your comments. The Cemeteries noted in the two listings are one in the same. The old cemetery is part of the Crown hill cemetery. I have the platt map if you would like a copy.

The contrast of pictures is very intriguing, that's for sure. I think in the spring I will go out and re-shoot it at the same angle of the old one. Considering the marker is in the SE section of the 1st add, there have been a lot of stones added since the time of the photograph. And I want to see if I can line up any landmarks. The big difference is that there are no trees, at all! It really did make my day, as I am such a Midwestern history nerd.
Glad you like it!

Dear Searcher:

I added a new photo to Rebecca Swisher Shimp's memorial. Your photo is gorgeous, but I thought maybe you would like an updated one too? I love how you can see how vast and empty the prairie was at the time of her burial. Jerauld County has changed quite a bit. It must have been a dry year then! There's no snow!

I think if you changed the photo order, so yours is first, it would be a lovely contrast. If you want me to remove it, I can do that also.

Dear Janet,
I just made the requested changes. Sorry it took me so long but I was on a two week trip and couldn't get to my Find A Grave account sooner.
Have a wonderful week

Chandlers at Glen Abbey
Thank you for pointing out not only the wrong death date, but also the duplication for Addie Mae Barron Chandler. She was my former husband's grandmother. The only other Chandler who is at Glen Abbey and who is related to Addie Mae is her husband, Charles T. Chandler. Unfortunately, I don't live near Glen Abbey, but only visited it one day to take photographs of this one family. I don't think they are related to you. sorry

I would most certainly be glad to transfer this memorial to you. Your grandfather (Bert Glasgow)and my grandfather (Arthur Caskey Glasgow)were third cousins. Our great x3 grandfathers were brothers. My great x3 grandfather was Joseph Glasgow and your great x3 grandfather being James Glasgow. This makes us fifth cousins. Their father, Robert Glasgow left Rockbridge County, Virginia, circa 1806, and relocated in Adams County, Ohio. James, your great x3 grandfather left Adams County, Ohio and moved sometime between 1850 & 1870 to Iowa.
