Well I happy to tell you it is a very lovely cemetery. It is on one of the most beautiful roads that for generations has been deemed haunted...lol

As a teen we heard all the stories of " Hatchett Mary" or the ghosts who would jump out at your car going under the expressway if you didn't beep your horn before going under. I think every state in the US has a Hatchett Mary.

The day my mother was buried there I had no clue until we pulled up that that was the cemetery my Dad decided on and was shocked.

It is very old in the beginning when you pull in but the best part is no restrictions. The trees are filled with wind chimes and bird houses and there are many solar lights. Very peaceful.

RE: Klara Gragert Melville Cemetery
Hello and sorry for taking so very long to write back. Of course I would love to. Can you tell me their plot location by any chance?
There is no office there and I am planning on going there on Fathers Day. Thank you so much.

Thank you. I received an email from another contributor saying the same thing. Since then I dug a bit and found a Town Clerks' register of NY men who served in the Civil War, stating that he was indeed sent home for burial. Unfortunately, it didn't specify a cemetery, so the search continues. Many thanks for your time and effort!

Her stone was placed in the Church during 1905 restoration, so says the memorial. Hubby's death noted 1768.

RE: Prentis
Thanks, the few weeks works well for me.

Our Wood's were in Harrison county, W V first when it was still Virginia in 1851, then after 1863 when it became West Virginia.

I am unable to travel as much as I would like. We visited Williamsburg summer of 1941 some 72 years ago, I'm sure it has changed a lot. They were really getting into the swing of their history when we were there. I recall lunch in a place which all the help were dressed as early day folks clothing.

The Prentis family deserves a nice write up on Find A Grave, they were very much a part of our history, but like so many, are now long forgotten.I ran acroos the grandson in Suffolk studying Solon Borland and family, including the Godwins.

Wished they had a spell check on this, I flunked english three years in high school.
