John Campbell received a Regular Army commission as a Second Lieutenant of Infantry from the Reserve Officers' Training Corps program at the University of Missouri in 1969. His military assignments included service with the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colorado; the 196th Light Infantry Brigade in the area near DaNang, Republic of Vietnam; the Second Regional Assistance Command in the area near Pleiku, Republic of Vietnam; the US Army Engineer School Brigade at Fort Belvoir, Virginia; the 8th US Army Engineer at Yongsan and in the Demilitarized Zone, Republic of Korea; the Armed Forces Radiobiology Research Institute at Bethesda, Maryland; the Defense Nuclear Agency at Alexandria, Virginia, and the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York.|
He currently serves as Professor of Physics and Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Clayton State University in Georgia. Dr. Campbell also served on the faculties of the Department of Physics at the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York (1976-1979 and 1987-1994), and the Department of Radiological Health Sciences at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado (1994-1996).
