Mr. Mcgowen,
This cemetery was originally called the Nolen Cemetery.
Howard Hicks died on Owo Jima, I do not know the exact date, Mom (Wanda Hicks Kegley) always said it was just before the flag was raised.
Around the tree between my sisters' grave (Wanetta Kegley) and my g-grandparents james and Margret P'Simer, are 2 bricks. They mark the graves of my mothers brother (Eugene Hicks, infant) and her little sister (Velda Hildreth Hicks, age 4+/-).
I plan to be home the end of July to work on Mom and Daddy's graves and to put named markers at the 2 Hicks children.

Thank you for the photo you posted on memorial # 75652864 James B. Angevine. I wasn't sure there would be one left.

Hello Charles
Thank you for transfer offer. Your memorial is fine with linkages to her parents and husband. No need to transfer. Cecil

McGowens in Missouri
Hi Charles,
I recently came across your memorial page for Myrtle Lee McGowen. My grandma, Judy (Payne) Hillis is her daughter in Poplar Bluff, MO but is not listed as one of her children. My grandmother was very happy to see the photo of Myrtle and would like to know if you might have any other photographs of Myrtle or other McGowens or Paynes in this lineage? She said she remembers the photo you've shared but doesn't know what became of it. I am new to Find A Grave and do most of my research on Ancestry.com, but the Paynes and McGowens (and Hillis's) are very difficult to find information on. Any photos or tips you can share would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Shannon
