Kirby's at Woodlawn

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly!

My grandfather, Charles Wright Kirby, Jr., and Florence Louise Kirby are brother and sister. Florence Louise married Charles Frederick Kirby, a native of England, with no relationship to the NY Kirby family. Conveniently, Florence did not have to go through the trouble of changing her surname :-) Thus, my father and Florence Elizabeth are first cousins. Yes, Reginald Woodward Kirby died at the young age of 12 in Greenwich, CT.

Yes, I have a lot of information on the NY Kirby line that I'm willing to share, but nothing on the line of Charles Frederick of England. I am the deedholder of the Woodlawn plot in which Florence Elizabeth Kirby is buried. I'd like to correspond with you in more detail, and even speak with you if you don't mind. Please reach out to me privately at at your convenience.

Best regards!

Florence Elizabeth Kirby
Hi Katie,

This memorial seems very familiar to me, and I will check my records when I get home. Was this Florence a daughter of Charles and Florence (Kirby) Kirby? Did she have a brother named Reginald Woodward Kirby? If so, I believe that we have ancestors in common.

Several generations of my Kirby ancestors are buried at Woodlawn.

I hope to hear from you soon. Thank you!

Thank you for sponsoring Katie's Memorial
You are very kind to sponsor the memorial. Thank you for adding the wonderful photograph, too. Are you kin to the Abbots?

I discovered the story of Frank and Katie quite by accident while searching for something else in the 1903 newspapers. Brian Sullivan's book and Frank's own books provided further details. I live not far from the cemetery and visit the Abbots frequently during my walks. I am pleased that others are finding the story of their deep love for each other of interest.

All best regards,

Kevin B.
