Elijah Adams photo request - Oakwood
Hi, I was photographing section F-2 and found many Adams markers that only had initials and no dates. Do you know what Ruth Adams' maiden name was? I ask because there was an E.E. Adams & ?.M. Adams buried together.
Take care.

RE: Anna Himes
The marker is hard to read, but it has that she is the wife of John Himes & the markers are next to each other in the cemetery. I do not have any other info than that, but doubt that they are not husband & wife based on that. Sorry I can't be of more help.

RE: Himes genealogy
I have Christian's parents as John Himes (1770-1845) and Elizabeth Kaufman (1772-1852), buried in New Salem, Armstrong County, PA. Three sons for John and Elizabeth: Jacob, Christian and Samuel. John's parents were Christian Himes and Rosanna Miller (both born about 1748), burial unknown. Unfortunately, that's really all I have on this line. Sorry to not be of more help.

Re: Ruth Adams (1869) at Mt Hope
You asked if the cemetery has any more information on this person. Here is a link to the relevant page of the interment record that gives information like age, cause of death, and residence at time of death:

Also, there was a survey of surviving markers done for the section where she is buried in the 1980s, so you can read what her marker says here:

Finally, you can look up the plot map for the lot where she is buried (East 1/2 of Lot 70 in Section C) and see who else is buried with her here:

I or another volunteer will hopefully get out there to take a picture soon.

Until you can make it up this way, I hope this solves your curiosity for now!

RE: Laughlin Farm Cemetery
Heading north from Kelso, it's exit 52. Take a left, stay straight. Pacific Highway turns into Barnes Dr. I'd say it's about a half mile or so down the road on the right. You won't be able to miss it! You'll see the barn up on a hill, then there's an old blue house with a dirt driveway leading to it. Turn there and go on up. The man and his son that live in the house are very nice (very talkative) and the son will tell you all about the barn. I'll warn you though, they're very opinionated with what's going on in the world, politics, etc.... so be prepared just in case! It was a spur of the moment stop for me, so I didn't have a camera; I'm going back though! (Also, they'll sell you a dozen farm raised eggs for $3 if you're interested!!)
