|Leonid Astrin||ref: Friedrich "Fritz" Von Osten-Sacken (Arklins)|
I'm very interested in memorial of Friedrich "Fritz" Von Osten-Sacken (Arklins). The thing is that one of my ancestors (according to the family legend) was out-of-wedlock son of Osten-Sacken of Dundaga. His name was Fritz, and he was a ship's capitan. His daughters Ida (my great-grandmother) and Irma came to Saint_Petersburg with their mother in first decade of XX and since then as far as I know they didn't see their father. As You see, information greatly overlaps, so I think there is a chance that this is the same person, so I would be very grateful if You can provide me whatever information You have on Friedrich "Fritz".
Thanks a lot in advance

Mike, thank you for creating Janet's memorial. I had searched for one for her, but couldn't find one. I would suggest adding a photo of the AAVSO logo to it. I think it would be very fitting. I tried to reply on the AAVSO forum, but couldn't figure out how to get it to let me write my comment.

I'll be in Riga for a week in September, can't promise anything but will see if I can make a day trip.
I know that there are 2 cemeteries there and have locations. One problem is that Latvia, like some other EU countries sometimes reuse graves after some years if the family does not take care of it. Unlike the US, it's the family that has to clean and weed so they may be gone.
Do you know what religion he was? Sometimes records are kept by different groups and cemeteries are seperated.

Mahalo for taking the time to photograph the headstone of Wm. Oili, Sr. at Homelani Cemetery. It is so nice to have someone to help validate my family history when I am so far away from home.
You might want to get a gmail or yahoo email address to use with Find A Grave so people can reach you regarding memorials.
The usual transfer request process is to go to the desired memorial, and in the upper right hand corner, you'll see the 'EDIT' tab. Click on it, and you'll a list on the left:
Actions you can take with this memorial:
The first one is:
'Suggest a correction or provide additional information'
Click on it (you'll see people refer to this as SAC(Suggest A Correction). When it opens up, that's where you put your transfer request, with your relation to the person you are requesting. Then click 'Send This Message'. This sends an email to the owner of the memorial, with a link in the email to the memorial, along with the contributors name (starry sky, in your case). This makes a transfer much easier, and insures accuracy. Many Find A Gravers will only acknowledge transfers this way, and will ignore or have their 'messages' turned off.
You'll find lots of answers to your questions in the Find A Grave FAQ section, and also encourage you to sign up for the Forums section, where you can get lots of help from the admins and other seasoned gravers.
Hope this helps, and Welcome to Find A Grave!
