Mary Morton at Holy Cross, Colma, CA
I added the gravestone for Mary Morton. She is buried with the Hemmenway family. In the burial removal record from Calvary Cemetery it had her age as 69, and the widow of Joe. The original plot was purchased by William Hemmenway.

At Holy Cross she is buried with William and Delia (nee Norton) Hemmenway, their daughter Flora, and their son William and his wife, Margaret. My guess is that Delia is Mary’s daughter, Delia is memorial #107717877. (Only the name Hemmenway is on the stone)

When looking for records on Mary, I also found her surname as Norton. It was Norton on the death record and the obituary. So I am not sure if her last name is Norton or Morton.

I hope this helps.

Re: your inquiry regarding the above.

"Do you perhaps have pics of the sides and back of the headstone for the above? 124223309/124223617. there is a small marker to the bottom right and i am curious about what that is."

The small marker to the bottom right says "Father".
Hope this helps.

RE: Daryl Phillips
I wish I could help, however I do not know any of these people. Don't give up. There is always one more link to follow. Toni

RE: anna smith
Have you been in touch with the cemetery? They may be able to give you more information about this particular Anna Smith, such as who purchased the plot that might help connect her (or not) to your people.

Per the California Death Index, there were 8 Anna Smiths who died in 1931, only one in SF, but 2 in Alameda and many of the rest in Los Angeles. The burial date from the cemetery might help narrow down which of the 8 she was. But with a name like Anna there is often variation throughout one's life and between records of Anna/Ann/Anne/Annie that might expand your pool of people, too.

RE: anna smith 1931
Sorry, I have no further information. It is a very common name.

You know, being as young as he was, it's possible he may not have given them his real name. That happened in those days.
