My Fletcher/Degase family was born and raised in the Ozark/Douglas County, Missouri area. I do visit the area occasionally, walk cemeteries & take pictures.
Source: graves I have listed came from "A survey of Ozark County Cemeteries" by Connie Lyons published by the Ozark County Genealogical and Historical Society Gainesville, Missouri 1989

RE: William williams
That's my brick wall also. There is a William Williams and Elizabeth in two different cemeteries. One is Springfield and the other is the Fortune cemetery. I guess its possible one is buried in each and they just put both names on the tombstone. Who knows? I can't prove that Elizabeth Fortune is our Elizabeth. If I have any info that you don't I will share.

RE: William Williams
What maiden name do you have for his wife Elizabeth?
There are two William Williams that married Elizabeths so it is confusing. The Springfield Cemetery is in Bath county but very near the Montgomery Co. line. That also makes it confusing as one couple is buried in Bath and one in Montgomery. They both have the same birth years. My William and Elizabeth Williams had a daughter born in Montgomery Co. Ky named Mary Elizabeth Williams who is my great grandmother.

RE: Athelia Turner Fletcher
Debra, Thanks for your message. I looked at what I had and I think I had the parents right. I did a minor change and took out the Ward for John W. and left it John W.
E-mail me at and we can discuss anything I need to change.
Thanks for your input -- I always hope to have the families correct. And, it did get to be somewhat of a challenge with the Turner family.
Leora Graham Turner was my step-mother-in-law and she was a lovely person.
