Hi I am Arvin Leon "Scooter" Thornton Jr. I live in Thornton, Colorado. I am a software developer by day, and I collect family members in the evenings and weekends. I am researching the Thornton, Cruse, Mohler, Shoaf, Davis, Bourland, Ray, Michael, Carter, Melluish / Melhuish, and McCloskey / McCluskey surnames.|
I am fortunate in that I am able to travel outside the U.S. in performance of my duties in land administration. Every time I have a day off I am lurking about in the local cemeteries with camera in hand - a love I inherited from my mother and grandmother. One of my great pleasures is when I can help someone locate their family members. If I have helped you in this way, please drop me a line and share your story.
What an excellent resource is Find-A-Grave! I have gained so much from it and I try to give back as much as possible. I am happy to share what I have with you. Please feel free to use any of the photographs I have provided, for any personal, non-commercial purpose, but kindly credit me as the photographer where appropriate.

You were kind enough to take a couple of headstone photos for me in Lahore several weeks ago. I am wondering if your travels ever take you to Kolhapur in Southern Maratha. There are a couple of graves there that I would love to get photos for if you are ever in that area.

Just curious, did you wander around the Chinese Cemetery taking all those photos yourself? That is an awfully dangerous neighborhood!
My wife's grandfather is buried there. I have made a Find A Grave page for him and someone from the Chinese Benevolent Association was kind enough to send me some photos of his marker.

Hi Scooter, what a nice message to get! Looks like we have found a kindred spirit. Next time you are in China, give us a shout. Unless it is summer when we are back in the UK. Or Easter when we are somewhere else...
We linked a daughter to her mother (your memorial) - how wonderful families can get back together on Find A Grave.

Thank you for the welcome. Yes, they are my great grandparents.

I live in North Carolina and will, most likely, never have the opportunity to visit India. You are so kind to offer to look for other burials for me in Lahore. At this time, I don't know of anyone in Lahore, but there are a couple of folks buried in Garrison Cemetery in Sabathu (near Shimia). Is Sabathu anywhere near Lahore?

Thank you so very much for the wonderful pictures of the grave marker for Dr. Charles Forman. I never dreamed that I would ever have photos of his grave! I also want to thank you for creating and transferring the nice memorial for his 1st wife, Margaret Newton Forman. I have never been able to locate her grave. I am very grateful for your help.

Thank you so much for this photo! My husband is a direct descendant of James' youngest daughter who left Jamaica with her family to farm in Saskatchewan, Canada. To know that this headstone still exists strengths our resolve to visit. What a wonderful surprise.

Thanks Scooter, no they are not related. I had stumbled on a reference for them so added them to Find A Grave.

Thank you for the pictures.
