I love history, love learning about my family history and searching for my ancestors. I like to use find a grave and ancestry.com. I think it is facinating to help others locate graves of their loved ones. My great-grandmother, Ollie Thornton, kept a large box of obituaries and memorial cards. I'm currently going through those and making sure all have a memorial page. If you find one of your relatives on a page that I have created, and you would like to manage the page, let me me know and I will gladly transfer them to you for you to take care of. Please send me an email with your request. My Family Names that I've been researching:CochranGoodmanThorntonStrait/StraightHart
Mina Thornton #62303374 Thanx for your note on the Thorntons. Upon further checking, I discovered the Warner - Thornton Cemetery on the West Virginia Cemetery Preservation Association website with a photo of the Thorntons' grave marker similar to the one you posted on the memorial. The directions to the cemetery are as follows: "This cemetery is located on the ridge above the north side of Eighteen Mile Creek in Union District, roughly one mile off Jim Ridge Road (see topo map for detail). Easily accessible, it sits on a low knoll in a meadow a short distance off the road. Plenty of space to park off the road, and only a gentle slope to walk up to the cemetery." Wonder if this sounds more like the one you visited? At any rate, I think the easiest thing for me to do at this point is transfer Mina and Elmer's memorials to you for future research. Good luck.
HI It's under Cotton-Ard. #72546809 I took the pic over a year ago. I didn't want you to have to go out to Sunset Memorial in the cold we are having just to take a picture of a memorial that is already on Find A Grave. Carol
