RE: Gwendolin D Olson nee Churchman
Incredible! Only four days since you signed up and a success story. If you don't mind, someday send me a little update, please? My curiosity is tingling at me.

A lot of thoughts went through my head during our back-and-forth messages. I wanted so much to help someone in their family research, yet at the same time we must all be cautious, and I was concerned about doing the right thing.

I hope there will be lots of happy memories shared between the cousins, and all the newly found family members.

I don't have any kind of people finder account, nor access to unlisted phone numbers.
I can't go up there tomorrow, but possibly Friday.

Please understand, looking for a grave marker is one thing, but looking for a living person is quite another. If I am successful, I will respect Alma's wishes of whether or not she wants to be 'found'.

What about Gwendoline's son, Harry? Are you going to go ahead with that newspaper article?

What is Alma's last name?

It's about 10 miles from some property that I own up there.
I'll give it a shot.

I don't give out my phone number to anyone, I'm sorry.
I have a yahoo email address, and we could chat through yahoo messenger, if you like.

Here is the website for the genealogy group in Lucerne Valley, if you would prefer to contact them directly:

I am eager to help, if I can. I can do some of the footwork for you, since I drive through L.V. once or twice a month, but can certainly go there anytime. Just let me know.

Ah! I get it now. When I go out on a photo request, I ramble around and continue to take shots till the battery on my camera gives out. When I get home I check to see if there are already memorial pages, and if not, I will create one. Of course, the name caught my eye, and the "Mugs" gave me a smile.
This just has to be the right 'Gwendolin'. Lucerne Valley is a very small community, at least in population. It is in the high desert, almost barren compared to beautiful green England. "High desert" simply means it is a dry desert area, but is a bit higher in altitude and can get lots of snow. Winters are extremely cold and last half the year. Interesting that they ended up there.
There is a local organization up there called the 'Rootdiggers', and one of the members has given me an open invitation to lunch. I will call her to set it up and try to find out as much about Gwendolin as I can. Hopefully someone up there knew the couple and can provide more information for you. It's a great starting point.
Do you have a picture[s] you can email me? It would give my approach much more appeal. Use my gmail address; I will be sure to check the spam file, just in case.
This is getting exciting! I have high hopes for your success.

RE: Gwendolin D Olson nee Churchman
I'm very sorry to disappoint you, but I have never seen the name 'Churchman' in any of my own genealogical research. Ditto the names Gwendolin, Iris, Alma and Henry.
I thought possibly I created a 'Churchman' memorial page that you found, but I have none by that name.
I wish I could help you. I know how exciting it is to find what you hope is a lead, only to have it turn into a disappointment.
I don't understand why you think I am a descendant. There are no 'Churchmans' in my family, and I know most of the 'Olson' names for the last 200+ years. But I love a challenge and would gladly assist with some internet surfing if you have any additional details you want to share.

GOOD LUCK to you.
