I have been interested in family history since I was a child when my grandparents took me to Peace Lutheran cemetery in Oshkosh WI to tend graves. I was fascinated in learning about my connection to family members from earlier generations, including great and great-great grandparents. |
I have been involved in assisting in making the burials in that cemetery more accessible to others searching their own genealogy and seeing to it that the stones are photographed and that plot locations are identified where possible. My photos include many extended family plots, some including multiple generations and surnames, which should help researchers in establishing familial links.
My own family genealogy includes the primary surnames of Zemke, Knaak, Hornke, Bomsin, Steinert, Schlagenhauf, Sonnenberg, Birkholz, Reinel and their descendents. Many are buried in Winnebago and Jefferson Counties, WI
You have my permission to use any of the gravesite photos I have added. As I am the custodian of many of my own family photos on the memorials, I ask that you acknowledge the source if you use them.

|Judie Urbanek||Transfer of my cousin's memorial|
Thank you, Judith, for the transfer Marion Wieg's memorial (Peace Lutheran Oshkosh).
|William Knaak||searching knaak records|
My name is William Knaak, originally from Oshkosh. I am currently visiting Wisconsin and along with my sister Karen have been searching relatives grave sites. We found your name through the record on our great-grandfather Ferdinand Knaak. Our grandfather Max was a brother to Elsie Zemke. From the photo's and captions posted in Ferdinand's memorial you clearly have much more information on the early family history than we do. I don't know where you reside, but if in Wisconsin my sister and I would be most interested in meeting or talking with you. Probably like you we are hesitant to post private contact information on this public site, but please let us know if there is a way to converse privately. Thanks. Bill Knaak
|Judie Urbanek||Transfer a cousin?|
Would you consider transferring the memorial of Marion Wieg (Peace Lutheran Cemetery) to my care? She was a 1st cousin, and I set up her parents' memorials.
|Truman Bratteli||Ermatinger Memorials|
1. Theresa Ermatinger memorial #127553260 - I was the originator of this memorial. Therefore, I effected the transfer of the memorial to Calvary Cemetery from Riverside Cemetery as per your email. This corrects the incorrect cemetery reference in the obit. You will need to delete the duplicate memorial you created for Theresa and also transfer the photos to the memorial I set up.
2. Peter Ermatinger memorial #124749145 - Contributor Trippy Von Brainstorm had established this memorial in Riverside Cemetery as per the obituary. However, you also established a memorial for Mr. Ermatinger in the correct location, Calvary Cemetery. Since you are unable to contact the original contributor, I would recommend you be the one to contact Findagrave to get it corrected.
3. I will not process the relationship edits you sent since the memorials you established will ultimately be deleted.
Hopefully, this will take care of all the necessary changes. All the best to you.

Could I please assume management of Marcella's memorial? She's my living grandmother's older sister and my grandma would like for me to add some additional info to her memorial, including info on all eight of her siblings. Thank you so much in advance!!

Hi Judy, Happy to help. That cemetery is so difficult with the card system. Often, they're mis-filed. Gin is always helpful. Please let me know if you ever hear back. Mary
|Janet Marie||Marie Wislinsky #150358303|
I went through all the memorials at Calvary Cemetery in Wautoma and found another memorial that is actually in Oshkoah. I removed my memorial.
Please add the following to Marie's bio: Known children of Edmund and Marie Wislinsky include: Mabel, Betty, Doris, Edmund, and Mary.
|Janet Marie||George Gonyo # 113306121|
Thanks for finding the correct cemetery for George Gonyo. I found his name listed on
It's a great resource, but there are definitely some names listed in the wrong spot there.
I've switched George to the correct cemetery so you can add the photos. If you find any others, please let me know.
|Thomas Lumblo||Michael Grabner|
I have added Calvary cemetery to Michael's burial info. He is the husband of my wife's 2nd cousin, once removed. If you are a closer relative and would like to build ancestor/descendent info from him, I would be happy to transfer him to you.
Let me know,
