RE: Yeldermann / Geldermann
Hi Cousin,

I think someone must have misread the G as a Y and Julius just kept using it that way, but I'm really not sure. If you look up the records for when they arrived in Texas it was Gildermann and Julius is listed as a girl. My Grandmother was the daughter of Samuel, Julius and Amanda's 2nd son. Samuel died when my Grandmother was only about 5 and she never told me a lot about that part of her family. My husband and I took my Mom down to Breham/Burton and did some research on the family a few years ago. I started researching when we lived in College Station, but only had what I found at the TAMU library and a record of Amanda's burial. We've been living in Georgia for the last 15 years.

Is your family from Ernestine Wilhelmine Geldermann? My Mom didn't know that Johann Julius had sisters until I found them. She thought he'd come to the states with his mother. She really enjoyed all the information I found during my research. She knew some things about his death but not the entire story until we found newspaper stories and went to the court house for trial documents.

Please email me at 4elkins@bellsouth.net, I would love to fill in some of the blanks in my tree.
